Would you buy a 2010 GT3 for street driving purposes only?

I tried to talk myself into: C2S PDK, Turbo, CaymanS launch car, I just could not do it and replaced my 996GT3 with the 997GT3. But that is me I guess that is why there are so many cars from which to choose.
But I TRACK, If I did not I think the C2S PDK would have been my pick.

My 996 GT3 RS is my daily driver. If you can use a rock-hard 996 as a DD, the 997.2 GT3 with PASM and nose lift will be a doodle.
The "organic relationship" described earlier is spot on. The relationship I feel with my GT3 has nothing to do with its speed, it has to do with its chassis. The GT3 connects the driver to the experience like no other car I've driven. The 997 Carrera S, even the 911 Turbo, are great cars in their own right, but they simply cannot provide the "hardwired-to-the-nervous-system" experience of the GT3. It's the perfect daily driver for the true sports car enthusiast.

For street only, absolutely not. The whole reason this car exists is to run a track. You will never get any more benefit out of a GT3 over a Carrera S or Turbo on the street. Porsche has noted over 75% of GT3s are tracked. With the very stiff clutch and stiff suspension, it is not an easy car to drive in traffic. It scrapes a lot due to the low ride height. Bottom line, for a street only car a Carrera S or a Turbo is much better at that task. Plus, the S has more comfort equipment and options for a daily driver like Bose and a sunroof. Save your money and buy a new S or a used Turbo. My pick for the street would be a 997.2 S with the PASM sports suspension option. With just an exhaust these cars are getting over 350 hp to the wheels and run faster than the 996 GT3 at the Nurburgring.

It doesn't matter how many people track the gt3, it could be 99.9% and I would still buy one for the street. And, it's fair to say that Porsche's numbers are likely a bit skewed on the track data anyway. There are a LOT of GT3s that have never seen a track and a lot more that saw one driving school and called it quits. I also don't buy the big HP increases in any modern NA engine with just an exhaust change. Sorry, no offense intended just my passionate opinion. I have owned most of the 911 variants and felt most connected to the gt during several LONG test drives. I want to have wood when I think about the sound and road feedback of my sports car; a gt3 does that, the current turbo in standard form does not. A 997.2S although, very, very competent is no .2 GT3. The 997 lacks the exhaust sound even with PSE and the on streroids look and feel of the 3, no way around it. You can make a gt car as creature comfy as the other variants. A sunroof is only important if one wants one. Bose may be better than the gt's sound package, but Bose is certainly no prize. I'd rather listen to the engine, intake and exhaust than any stereo any day.

1. 997 gt3 is a street car that can be tracked once in a while. it took me a long time to realize why it is just a street car and nothing more.
2. the FEEL of the car can be felt even on street, at 15mph. in fast i can FEEL the difference b/n a gt3 and a c2 without firing up the ignition. the just feel different and smell different too.
3. i think it's fine for street use only, but you may end up with a LOT of tickets. i sure did. and i mean A LOT.

aint so easy to get out of a ticket, when i say speeding, i was SPEEDING.
but that was before i found the track.
now i always drive in the slow lane with cruise control on.

No. I thought long and hard about it and decided to get a non-Porsche to replace my DD. I wanted more comfort for the daily commute and all the extra performance available is wasted in my commute. I have a track car for the performance (and it's better than a GT3 RS), so I opted for comfort to go along with the fun.

I've just traded my 997 Turbo for a 997 GT3 RS and I plan to use it mostly on the road.
It doesn't matter where you drive it; what matters is the feeling of hapiness your drive will give you. There is nothing like driving a GT3: directness, noise, steer balance... it has it all!
