Default Euro / Factory Delivery suspended for US dealers?

Has anyone heard of this?
Was planning on doing it on my 2010 GT3 order (October build), but my sales guy got this back:

"European Delivery Program Suspended
For US dealers, the European Delivery Program has been suspended.
If you have any questions, please contact your Porsche Regional Manager."

Yes, they let Gabrielle go who ran the program out of Atlanta.

Our guess it's because of low demand in combination w/the release of the Panomara.

There's no Tourist Delivery for the Cayenne and it would create a logistics problem getting the cars from Leipzig.

this takes away the incentive for some to buy "new"...... bad move on porsche... only a select few affected, but still, bad move. Anybody planning on tourist delievery should have their dealers contact Porsche ASAP and voice concerns and to the point of canceling order.

Compare to other brands, doesn't Porsche actually charge the buyer for the European delivery program? (while I think you actually get a discount if you do it w/ a M-B, BMW, etc.?)

So the extra $$$ is not enough to offset the "cost" ? (extra cost??)

THAT SUCKS!

I took euro del on my '07 ... and if I get a shot at an RS I would want to take euro del of it too ...

and yes, it was around $4k extra for the priviledge as opposed to the 7%
discount I got from BMW to do euro del on my new dog waggin in a month!

I will cancel my '10 if that is so.

Part of the hit I take on the '07 GT3 is delusionally justified by accounting in a 4 week Euro vacation visiting tracks in my RS instead of a rental GT3 @ 1000.00Euro a day.

I will find out if this is permanent come ordering day in October, I suppose.

Perhaps we should start a mini-petition for the attn of PCNA to indicate how many potential
GT3 owners would prefer to take euro del.

From my experience, doing the euro del is worth it, the factory tour is great, there is the new museum,
then there is doing 185mph on the autobahn, not too mention the 50+ laps at the Nordschleife ...

I have a deposit on a slot for an RS, and I had planned to do euro del ... I might not bother if it's
not an option ...

Is this a temporary suspension? The factory is getting ready to shut down for 2 months, so I would assume they would not be doing Euro delivery during this time.

I'm all for signing a petition. I'm postponing or not buying at all within the next 12mo the GT3 is Euro Delivery cant be done.
As you said, main incentive is to use it for vacation around Europe, some track days in Spa and most importantly the NurburgRing (and getting my German FiA comp license..)

Bummer...

despite the fact I paid something over $4k for the priviledge of taking delivery of my '07 in europe I had a great 2 weeks in europe; I went to Le Mans for the
race, drove to the French Riviera, along the coast, thru Italy and Switzerland,
followed a turbo cab up the autobahn at an indicated 185mph, took the factory
tour, saw the temporary museum, and drove the car around the Nordschleife
for 50+ laps including the Manthey customer day ...

it was wonderful ...

I'm even going back in 4 wks time to collect my lease BMW to do roughly
the same ... including a few laps of the ring in the 535i sport waggin ... and
I get a 7% discount on the US MSRP to boot!

it's a real shame that PCNA have suspended the program ... I doubt I will be
upgrading to a new car if I cant do euro del.

Part of the PCNA /PAG decision was there were only 12 Euro deliveries in the past year from the US.
Not a hugely popular option....

jeez that is not a lot ... not entirely surprising given the cost of it though ...

it's a shame because a GT3 really should be allowed once in it's life to
run free on the autobahn and around the nordschleife ...

that's a good point but if they really have let Gabrille McF go from PCNA H.Q
then it probably means they have terminated the programme permanently.
