This just came to my attention via Adam2S and I thought I'd share it with others to help avert negative delivery surprises.

If you like the new interior with the extended alcantara on doors and lower dash as shown in all the press cars and on the Porsche website photos then you need to order the Black Full Leather interior option (78). Otherwise, you're SOL and will get plastic and leatherette. I know this is seen as bling for some (Mooty) but for others like me it really makes the interior. Caveat emptor.

On the warning front, in talking to my dealer he indicated that you should never vacuum alcantara, such as seat insert, when it's wet as it pills. I assume getting it wet would be the result of a "personal accident" after say overcooking it into Turn 6 at The Glen as opposed to spilling your Starbucks, but there it is. Vacuuming dry alcantara is apparently no problem.

This is along the same lines as all the magazines in the world writing that in the GT3 you get the Clubsport package for free, when in fact you first have to pay thousands for the carbon seats.

hey i do like leather. but like it on women not cars.
seriously i am just cheap for one and also if it's full leather, i tend to want to lotion it all the time and in my advanced age with roll bar and all, it's very hard to get to the rear cabin to lotion the leather.

The RS that I just got has the Full Leather option - which I just assumed was the dash, door, front center console. I then realized that "Full" means more than that: A-, C-pillar, rear cabin, everything else! With the roll bar, it's quite the PITA to clean. It is nice though...just more than I expected...
