yup. the 996RS is as raw and rare as it gets. definitly collectable.
Are you kidding? Have you driven a 996 RS?
No PASM, no TC, no Sport buttons, no annoying exhaust butterflies... Just pure, unadulterated driving thrills. Not as comfortable as the 997 version, but unquestionably more the purist's sports car. Many times I considered replacing mine with a 997 RS, but it's the 996 that is still in my garage. And it's my daily driver too.
Unlike the 997 RS, the 996's were bought by enthusiasts, not speculators. And having not been sold in the USA, fewer of them were built.
I'm convinced the 996 RS will indeed become a collectible in the future. But I'm not a collector so I'm hoping the 997.2 GT3 will finally convince me to give up my 996 RS. Other than some extra comfort and DayGlo colors, the 997.1 RS added nothing over the 996, IMO.

None of these cars will become 'collectible' for decades; by then they will have criss-crossed oceans and country of spec will be irrelevant. If anything, like the original 911RS, it will be those ordered closest to the racing versions that will be the most valuable...which means ROW-spec (factory equipped lexan rear window, fire extinguisher, roll cage, buckets, etc.), not US-spec with nav, full leather, lighted door sills, etc.

I found a blk CGT I am buying at the end of the month. If anybody wants might white 2008 rs w/ 100 miles I will now sell it for 150k which is MSRP if the deal is done by the end of the month so I get my tax credit. If not then I will keep the car.
Thanks

I decided to keep it becuase the CGT I was going to buy fell thru as the owner changed his mind. I did have offers at 150 that was not a problem. In fact I had 2 other rs cars which I sold over the past 2 months both similar in options and miles to my white car one was green one was orange and both sold for over 150.
