New GT3: Be Afraid Nissan. Very Afraid
Just got back from Barnes and Noble and got the latest issue of CAR magazine.
In a nutshell, they preferred the GT3 over the GTR and in a showdwn with an independent driver the GT-3 was the winner with a 7:49 versus 7.51 for the GTR at the Ring.
Might lend some credence to Porsche's comments regading Nissan's other wordly times with the GTR.
Regardless of the us versus them arguments, the new GT-3 seems to be truly quick.

the two cars were remarkably closely matched, to wit from CAR:
"If you're wondering why Andy (the driver) was so much slower than Nissan's 7min 27 sec (page 62), consider this: our time was over a full lap, not a lap minus the length of the pits; there was a small section of roadworks; he'd never before driven a GT-R and he did just one hot lap; our car came with factory rubber and suspension, not the optional tweaks Nissan offers any owner.
It's a close result, but the Porsche wins on both objective and subjective grounds in the hands of a highly skilled, independent driver."

I'm not a Nissan apologist, but I don't know how you could get a representative time out of any car with only one hot lap ever driven. I guess a couple practice laps might've rendered the car rather tired?
I wonder if the driver has much 911 (or GT3) driving experience. If so, not sure the test was fair to the Nissan. If not, stunning result for the GT3...
