The price may have something to do with it.

RS's are not bringing over msrp these days, even with 100 miles!!

MAYBE if you found a collector you might get msrp, but it could take a while.

There are quite a few for sale in the marketplace, and most are very low mile cars $5-10k UNDER msrp.

Default white rs

I would agree with that comment this car is for somebody that really wants white certain options and no miles. Not for you avergae RS buyer looking for the best deal

why would a collector want this one, when the next one will be just around the corner?

True...the most 'collectible' are typically the first and last of a series, in this case the 996GT3RS and 997GT3RS.2.

No harm in trying, though...

I would be surprised if anything in the 996 line had any value to a collector but anything is possible

why not. The RS was a very special car and super rare. I still see them in the 140's

Default 997 GT3 RS Mk1

I believe this was the 1st 'real' (pretty close to the Euro version) RS you could order for delivery to the U.S... that should have some value.

Are you kidding? Have you driven a 996 RS?

No PASM, no TC, no Sport buttons, no annoying exhaust butterflies... Just pure, unadulterated driving thrills. Not as comfortable as the 997 version, but unquestionably more the purist's sports car. Many times I considered replacing mine with a 997 RS, but it's the 996 that is still in my garage. And it's my daily driver too.

Unlike the 997 RS, the 996's were bought by enthusiasts, not speculators. And having not been sold in the USA, fewer of them were built.

I'm convinced the 996 RS will indeed become a collectible in the future. But I'm not a collector so I'm hoping the 997.2 GT3 will finally convince me to give up my 996 RS. Other than some extra comfort and DayGlo colors, the 997.1 RS added nothing over the 996, IMO.
