"It was the first car since the original 2.7 RS to be imported officially by Porsche, and the last to use the unique, hand-built, naturally aspirated GT1-derived dry-sump engine. Future RS variants will use high-performance versions of the Carrera engine."

It is why I think the current version o fthe RS will be very desriable over time more so than the next version if we see another one as people expect. Newer is sometimes but not always better.

1 73RS was not officially imported to USA ever
2 we already know 997.2gt3 uses gt1 derived motor, why would RS not?

Well, in this economy I'm not too eager to sell what I have just to buy a newer RS. I may just go and find a '73 S and restore it. If Porsche keeps banging out RS's, then I (we) will need something more unique.
If I were a Turbo guy, I would pick up a 964 3.6 or a 993 and skip 996 and 997.

it's like every mercdeds is not amg
and every 3er got M power
a real amg is the late 80's 500E the current CLK
a ream m3 is e36m3
what is a real RS (i know the 73RS for sure what else...)
you got two great cars in the garage. enjoy.

The 997.2 GT3RS will be a fun porsche no doubt. But the current 997.1 GT3RS will not be far from it either.
So if you already have a 997.1 RS, you probably wont run out to get the new 997.2RS.
With the new RS supposedly having a more CUP style wing, wider front fenders and more HP it will be a nice boost to the platform, but the new color scemes are what im really curious about....
(if orange and green colors will be replaced by gulf blue with orange etc...)
something fun and new would be nice to see as replicating the 997 RS colors again would be kinda lame....

Uh, they've been doing that for a couple of years now. If what we're seeing about the next RS pans out (wider front fenders, more hp than the standard GT3, true cup-style wing, etc) it will be doing more justice to the RS legacy than the '07 and '08 (which, other than a few cheap parts, some loud paint and stickers, was indistinguishable from the "normal" GT3).
