PCCB Teltail
Just a pic showing the teltail
Discs from PSDS CarreraS cars that have 10k track miles.
Amazing how lightweight they are!

- this should be an interesting thread
- they clearly aren't new but are they worn?
- the hologram is visable when new
- what is obvious is that there is less ceramic material bonded to the carbon and there are not that many people that know when when too little is too little but my guess is that those rotors are close to done
- i'm sure you could easily run them more (and i would like to know the performance difference comparing those to new rotors)?

Definitely not true. The "holograms" (which are really plugs through the rotor of a different material, so the pattern between it and the rest of the rotor varies a bit) are there on new rotors. If you get close you can see them. Over time, the difference becomes more pronounced. And I'm told, if you overheat the brakes, those plugs look very different, so as to indicate that they've been overheated.

Exactly. What the point of having those if they dont do anything. How then do you tell if a PCCB rotor is worn out? BTW, Johnny Bahamas, that *** in you avatar might be the best Ive ever seen!

They're done. The surface is not smooth, they're good as brake pads grinders, good for 2 sets of brake pads per day.
10,000 miles is a lot of track miles. These are great news for PCCB Gen II owners
- An average track day has 4 sessions of 20 minutes. That's 80 minutes of driving, let's make it 90 minutes.
- If you average a speed of 90 mph around the track (it is much lower than this based on my Traqmate data), you drove a total of 135 miles/day.
10,000 miles will give you 74 track days. If I have to replace a full set of PCCB every 74 track days, that makes these brakes affordable for track use. A complete PCCB kit with PCA discount sells for $14,000, comes with pads, calipers, PCCB rotors.
Get a set of cast iron 380mm/350mm rotors, and sell the F/R big brake kit for $5,000.
Lots of drivers here have an idea on how often they replace front and rear cast iron rotors. Just do the math.
