Mine now has 22,500 miles. Just got it all prepped...cleanup, new brake fluid, oil changes, general nuts & bolts check, and yeah replaced the OEM engine mounts with the 'ol RS solid bushing mounts...for the first track event of this season at VIR in 10 days.
Drive or die, I say...![evilgrin](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/evilgrin.gif)

BTW Jenk, that's terrible, let's hope VIR's weather is good without rain and such!

Actually I can't wait to enjoy my first track day with the beast. Brought it home on New Year's Eve only, hence no track day since then due to the crappy winter weather over here in Germany. Yesterday we had the first day with almost Spring weather and I went for an extensive ride (320 km) having a blast on derestricted Autobahnen and on the mountain twisties.
As a reference I drove the same stretch of Autobahn plus winding country roads I enjoyed so much in the 987S on uncounted occasions.
The traction out of tight bends is unbelievable (my wife went pale on the passenger seat as she also had the BoxsterS as the only reference), the exhaust music in tunnels is acoustic carporn at its best.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Also I couldn't believe how planted this baby felt at 290 km/h on the Autobahn (still missing the last 20 km/h due to traffic..).
Just a couple of weeks and the baby will sniff at the holy tarmac of the Nordschleife![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Great thread

1st of all i need to move somewhere warm where i can do track events all year long! anyone in san francisco or anywhere in california hiring? been living in New york city for 15 years and it feels like its time to move on. I bought my 997 GT3 last december and i did about 20 track days with it last year. i use it pretty exclusively right now for DE's. what a great car for the track. the only problem now is that i want to start club racing and it would be absurd to turn this into a club racer! do i sell it and buy a non-street legal car dedicated for the track and racing?
anyway, sorry for getting off on a tangent. i hadn't even seen my car since the 1st weekend of November when i did my last event at VIR until last weekend. so last saturday we had a reasonably nice day here in new york and i went up to Deman motorsports to visit my car and take it out for a ride. the thrill of getting into the driver's seat is the same everytime! it just never gets old! what a great car to drive even if its just for a cruise down the garden state parkway. not that i am looking for attention but its amazing how many people come up besides you and give you the thumbs up. i only wish i could use the car more. i think i have only put about 4,000 miles on it.

nada. meatballed at 1st session. 97.2 db (have sharky bypass). rest of session i just short-shift and lift after T5 coming up the sound booth all the way to bridge then down shift back to 3rd going into T6. it was horrible and frustrating. i guess the frustration got to me by the last session, checkered flag out, cool down lap, i floored it 3rd gear pass the sound booth haha. stupid thing to do. don't know why i did it. anyways at the paddock one of the TMR guys came out had a talk with me. said them track officials were pissed. registered 100.x db on their meter. said they're going to start me off with a strike the next day (it was a 2 day event) but wasn't planning on running the next day anyways. hehe. i apologized and vowed not to do it again. ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
there was an orange gt3rs that day. i brought my radio shack sound meter and measured him on the front straight. his was QUITE. ~85db. as i understand it, he had a valve-always-shut mod from Carlsen but wasn't sure if he has stock exhaust or sharky bypass. didn't get a chance to talk to him. another in a white gt3 showed up had the same mod but didn't go out to track. i took a couple of lousy phone pics under the boot. looks trick. move the hose one way to always shut valve or the other put it back to normal. said he passes sound even at WOT. i might have it done but not sure it will be quite enough with the sharky bypass.
