Default Burmester audio system into the 911?

This is a "Does anybody know anything about the future 911 audio system?" post.

I case you haven't noticed, the mad scientists at the Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen fun factory have put a Burmester audio system (1000 watt head unit pushing 16 speakers) into the Panamera. IMHO, Burmester is to Bose as Porsche is to Chevrolet. So, the Burmester system is a dream come true. Literally, for me anyway.

Does anyone know if, and if so during which MY, Porsche will be dumping Bose in the 911 product line in favor of a Burmester system?

MJones, sir? Heard or seen anything??

5k option in Panamera S
3200 In Panamera Turbo as an upgrade over the Bose.

It appears that the Bose will stay around with Burmester as an alternative option
at least in the sedan.

Will Burmester make it's way to the 911, who knows?

I'd think twice about being excited about this Burmester system.

They make great home audio components but designing car systems is a whole different ballgame. Tons of RD and experience required. Not something Burmester is used to.

I'm an audiophile too and I'd bet that Burmester could build something far superior in a short time to what Bose has developed over the many-year relationship with Porsche (it's embarassing what they've offered).

The challenges of building a car system are not that great. In fact, there are several aspects that make the job far easier than a home system (fixed location of loudspeakers, listener, and environment as well as matched source, pre-amp, amp, and speakers). All of the variables are fixed and defined. I think they'll do a great job.

That said, no way I'd bother with one in a 911. I'd rather put that money toward a GT3 upgrade - which needs no stereo at all, given the 8,500rpm music included

Variables fixed?
One example:
One window down, half way, 20%, 8%, etc
Then take this times combos of 4 windows.
Seems like a HUGE amount of variables for one issue....the acoustic chamber of the cabin.....

burmester, the german macintosh (now i am talking about old vacuum tubed mcintosh, not the current POS).

i am certain they will do a good job, but to do a great job for in car audio is waste of time. i'll be too busy hitting apex and downshifting while surveying cops.... i wouldn't have time to care about imaging, transient response, transparency, warmth, and then commenting on how pathetic 99% of the commercial recording are done today......

of course, on the other hand, burmester could also dilute their stuff and sell just the brand name. have you heard the mark levinson in lexus? my 15 year old harmon kardon (the old harmon kardon, citation line) college system will blow it to pieces.

If you expect any car stereo to sound better than awful while driving with the windows down (not to mention a car capable of 180mph), then that is beyond unrealistic...

To each his own. I love listening to music when I drive and am willing to spend a lot of money on a good car audio system - I derive that much pleasure from it.

harmon kardon was great until BMW started putting the crap systems in the BMWs.

In my GT3 I drove to the track one and wanted to stick a pencil through my ears. I got a lightweight audiophile system, and smile the whole way. (Amp weighs 2 lbs!)
