Tonight RTR had a presentation from a Porsche rep and we saw the new centerlock pieces. Very cool, light, and will only require around 100 ft/lbs to torque according to the rep. So no torque multipliers or long wrenches need apply. OTOH, these pieces look really trick and equivalently expensive, and will (of course) instantly make all of your expensive wheels obsolete.
100 ft/lb works if there's a different locating mechanism (and the spring-loaded radial lock pins.) This makes it fundamentally different -- unlike the Carrera GT design other than in appearance. At least it's not a retrofit.

WTF
who is kidding whom???
Was there the real deal on display??
Pics show the nut indicating 475 NM (350 Ft Lb) Torque
Am I the only one that does not care at all about this new feature?
Do we know yet whether there will be an option/choice of the traditional 5 lug or the centerlock? I thought the car was set to come with centerlocks - hence the interest in all things centerlock. Hopefully I am wrong and there is a choice.
I think it depends on whether they are the real deal, e.g., same as CGT and/or Cup Car mounting system, or some cheaper set-up. Fashion or function means all the difference.
