Default EZ Pass - Hate the look? Solution found!

New solution to eliminate the look of that unattractive white square on your windshield. EzShadow and new black attachment strips make the EZ Pass virtually invisible without impacting the EZ Pass use.

Check it out at www.ezshadow.com and pass it along, as friends should not let friends drive with their passes showing!

FYI, the California "Fastrak" permits the user to paint the transponder (so long as you don't use metallic paint and don't open the case.)

In any case, these automated toll booths all have cameras to catch violators, so I just run through without even bothering with the unit, they just bill you from the camera snap (no added fee ... it's just the same is if the transponder happened not to function for that particular pass.)

The unit in the Prius is specific to the Prius (gives you cheaper fare or a free ride through the commute lane or something) so we have one for the Prius and one for all the other cars. If you inadvertently put it in another car, you get a fine. Annoying!

Worse still, the Cayenne has the insulated glass, so the cell phone doesn't work as well, there's only a tiny semi-circle where the transponder works (behind the rearview mirror) and the radar detector is rendered almost useless (so it's zip-tied to the roof rail with a remote V1 audio and visual unit inside.)

The EZ Pass and the Fastrak are different sizes. The EzShadow fits exactly to the shape of the EZ Pass and as such it will only work on the EZ Pass.

The EZ Pass works on my 2006 Cayenne and as with any car, if the EZ Pass currently works it will work with the EzShadow in place.

We have Sun Pass here in Florida. My Sun Pass will usually work if it is in the arm rest compartment I have mounted it low on the passanger side and it works there too.

Alright, I'm starting to feel really old-fashioned here.

I place the transponder on the dash when necessary, then tuck it away when not.

Oh well.
