07 GT3 traded for 07 RS

Thanks for the input guys, for sure it is a lot of money difference for a little bit more rare car. Will it get me faster around the track? tenths maybe.. I try to rationalize but as you all know that does not work well at all....
I did get 30K over for my original RS in last year and than 40K over for the GT2 (talk about timing!!!) so I guess I'm up 70!!. choices, choices.
On the flip side that 44K will pay for my 2 x VLN and 1 x 24 hour race at the Nurburgring this year.......

The difference between a GT3 and RS was $17k when new (GT3 MSRP was $106k and RS was $123k).
IMHO $44k is way too much for a used one for not much performance gain.
I would wait for the GT3.2 (no sunroof too!).

40K over for a gt2 - that buyer is going to be down 80k in 12 months after buying it
if you actually look at what has happened to 996gt2 prices very recently, my guess is that 997gt3rs' will within 12 months be more expensive than 997gt2s
porsche has to figure out pricing / marketing for gt2s going forward
i actually wonder if there will be another gt2 as depreciation is just way to high on those cars for the original buyers (nice for the second buyers though)
i thought it was going to take 3 years until i could buy a 997gt2 for the same price that i paid for my 997gt3 but by the looks of it they should be sub 120k by next spring (and we haven't even seen what happens to prices when we get a 3.8 DI tt engine yet)

Can I ask the following question: have you driven an RS to want to spend $44k on the hightened experience? Is this the heart (the experience bit) or the mind (the delta, do not take a hit on depreciation,...) talking?
Personally from a financial viewpoint I would be thinking very long and hard buying another GTx at a time where you still do not know either the quality of the new GT3 or the rumors of the GT2RS. You should be close to max depreciation by year end when the new one hits, therefore you should have 9 months of depreciation until then. If you agree, then the cheaper the existing asset, the smaller the absolute deprecation, i.e. stick to your GT3.
If you heart tells you to do it, just drive an RS on the circuit and compare, no one can really guide you after that!

Doing a little research as i am in the same situation. My delta is 50k, yet my car has double the miles and 3 months later gt3 prices haven't gotten any stronger. Yet, my car is leased for 4 years and i will buy/finance the RS. Thus, i am hoping that ultimate ownership cost of the RS, assuming it holds value reasonably well, will be marginally the same as the Gt3. Further, while the 2010 may make sense, to have it similarly equipped as the RS will cost more. Thus, am i making the right decision? Thanks

It all depends on what the upgrade is worth to you now!
I agree with Porsche and to me the delta was worth it at 20K new and still is today...No more.
With the new ones being delivered in 10 months, I can wait and justify the 20K + amount be the fact that I get to order it and it s a new model..

Personally, I think it's a bad time to make the switch because GT3 prices are getting pressured by inbound Gen2 cars while RS prices are benefitting from "uncertainty" surrounding Gen2 RS. I suspect delta will improve as soon as Gen2 RS is confirmed.

MRSP differential is closer to correct in my opinion. Even at an MSRP differential, your car will have depreciated a greater percent tham the RS. Depending on how low the miles are on the RS, 30k-35k might be right. At the same miles, I'd be at 25k.

Hey Rahul,
Give us some data on your car - mods? miles?. What was the MSRP on your car? What is the MSRP, mileage, options on the RS - post a link or give us more details and then we can possibly help u.
