Default 07 GT3 traded for 07 RS

Well, it's been a while since I posted so here is a good one I think.

I can trade my GT3 (yes I still have it) with 4.5K for an Orange RS with less miles on it. Will cost me my car plus 44.5K.

The actual price differnce between the MSRP's of the cars was $22,200.

I think this is a pretty descent deal, I miss the hell out of my original RS.

What do you all think??

I'd do it as long as there isn't an RS replacement that is coming along based on the 997.2 GT3. Otherwise, I'd buy the 997.2 GT3.

Sounds relatively fair considering you don't have to mess with selling your car in this market. RS's are in the $130-140K range and a standard GT3 is $90-95k IMO. The RS will surely hold it's value better over time.

Good luck!!!

that deal works.
because, quick sale on your car would be 90k, and a gt3rs in todays market can be had for 130k

44k for the ease of transaction works great! And depreciation should be slower on RS.

that being said, you may want to look at the 997.2 gt3......... unless you really got to have a RS.....

I think it makes sense only if you find a set of 18" Fikse Profil 13s shod with Hoosiers to go on your new RS

Only if it has PCCB and Xenons, otherwise you will pay when you try to trade it!

Aye those are a must have option, true... 10K miles, 2 pro drivers at the track and one or two slow-pokes (me and James) later and they're still as good as new.

Does not sound like a good deal to me!!! The RS are special but have been very soft as of late.

all GT3 and GT3RS are special, but knowing how Porsche knows how to make money, I suspect there will always be the RS along each new GT3 coming out.

I wouldn't buy an RS and hope that it will make a collector car one day. I always feel that the Carrera GT is most special, but look at its depreciation now.

so for my 2 cents, the 44.5K delta seems high as I don't consider a GT3 and the RS so different to each other.

It seems to me you should be able to push that delta much closer to the MSRP delta. There's a million guesses as to the motivation of the salesperson and the dealership, but if they are willing to take your car in trade at all, then they're making good money on the exchange. Personally, I'd buy and sell privately in this market because there's just not enough margin left in these cars to afford to pay dealers.

Thanks for the input guys, for sure it is a lot of money difference for a little bit more rare car. Will it get me faster around the track? tenths maybe.. I try to rationalize but as you all know that does not work well at all....

I did get 30K over for my original RS in last year and than 40K over for the GT2 (talk about timing!!!) so I guess I'm up 70!!. choices, choices.

On the flip side that 44K will pay for my 2 x VLN and 1 x 24 hour race at the Nurburgring this year.......
