Holy falling bricks!

911 numbers year over year are looking like Cayman percentages.

I guess there's some buyers waiting for '09 cars and there's some waiting for PDK and some waiting for late availability options. But hell, it doesn't look like cutting production is going to offset these sales shortfalls.

Oh, I get it! Everyone is waiting for the Panamera. Snap! (to paraphrase Jon Stewart)

November was an interesting month. I am a Franchised Porsche Dealer in South Florida and we were is great shape compared to last year and last month. Some areas are more affected than others.

But despite the times......It is the best time for a BUYER in the Auto market.

I'm not seeing the same angle -- 600 in '08 vs 2600 in '07 is a lot, and better than you expected?

Subjectively, my only "take away" from these dismal numbers is that I could rationalize my way into an '09 Cayenne GTS 6-spd w/PDCC and CCBs instead of another blooody Rangie. Talk about discounts -- go talk with a Land Rover dealer! : |

I don't understand LR and RR buyers. Is it status? The dang things don't even have a rear camera. How can soccer moms back them up without driving over Little Johnny or Mary?

One of the dealers in Atlanta--Jim Ellis--has 15 Turbo's on the lot...12 new and 3 preowned. One of the new ones is GT3RS Orange. Suddenly a ton of inventory on Turbos.....

The Land Rover line-up has had rear camera options for a while (and it costs about $70 to "DIY" one.) But that's the least of strangeness about paying $100K knowing it has a one year, $60K resale. I don't mind being in the secondary market on Rangies -- especially since '07 with the PDCC suspension equivalent.

Carlsen has a used but basically zero mile black GT2 (parked outside in the rain) and I don't see it selling too easily, but you never know.

Also interesting is the GT2 numbers.. 194 total sold year to date. IIRC there are only 360 cars released to the States. Does that mean there are still 166 cars waiting for homes. My dealer has a spec car on the floor plus a previously owned car too. A very quick way to tie up $500k in (retail) inventory..

Default Sorry for repost: Price drop, GT3RS versus GT2

This was already posted on 6speedonline.

I followed the drop in prices on 9 07 GT3RSs and 6 GT2s over the last 6 months. These were cars that did not sell, either on dealer lots or through individual sellers. Much tough haggling was done on my part.

Again, sorry for the repost. I made a graph , and for both models there is a statistically significant decrease in actual selling price, especially versus advertised prices for GT2s...

Well, that chart looks a lot better than most of what I've seen since 7/1/08 ... : |

I think the comparison plot would be more realistic if the one or two points above $250K for the GT2 were removed and the time line expanded back to the start of RS sales.

I haven't seen a GT2 go under $200K yet, but I think $170-180K is probably the market today. If you could find a buyer. Maybe even south of that before too long. That's no reflection on the car, just a very dead market where buyers have contracted as much as their sphincters will when they actually try to drive a GT2.

170-180k is the current market.
