I saw a GT-R for the first time in the metal last week and I think it looks great. Certainly not elegant or beautiful, but perfect in its own Darth Vader sorta way.

reat article, thanks for posting.
When my GTR arrived in August I almost kept it, it looked so styled and beautiful, inside and out.
Very different from the pics, in real life parked next to a 997, the 997 looks 10 years old. A beatufil 10 years old.
The GTR seemed a bit gadgety, but some people like that (BMW M cars) and the GTR is an awesome car for the money.
Would I rather have a GT2? Of course, but the GT2 just seems to expensive compared to the GT3. A used GT3 is a better track car than a new GTR I thought for similar money, so sold the GTR anyway.

I find it very interesting that Chris and the boys came up with the SAME time Porsche did on their GT-R lap. It appears to me that Nissan was fibbing for awhile there.
I too like Chris harris. He is almost as funny as Clarkson, but I take Chris more serious.
Reminds me of something radio shack would come up with!
the Radio Shack RC GT-R!!!

Comparing Nissan's GT-R to Porsche's GT2 really isn't fair.
Nissan "benchmarked" Porsche's 997 TT which is at least one step down from the GT2.
That said, all evidence indicates Nissan ran a "Ringer" @ Nurburgring in order to get the 7:29 ring time.
Now we hear of warranty problems with the GT-R's dual clutch transmission !!!
Makes one wonder how good a "track car" the GT-R's likely to be.

The Nissan "track car" is a misnomer. The few GTR road racers are now looking to exotic transmission fluids, brake upgrades, and additional cooling to remedy the great wear and heat they are seeing after a few laps. They argue that it is not really meant for more than 1-2 laps. The other camp of owners are consoling themselves over the loss of LC, putting up ok times and saying it is not really meant as a drag car. Too heavy for road racing, to fragile for drag racing. Had Nissan marketed it as a poor man's 599, I think no one would be complaining.

in our hot climate here in Asia, GTR can't do the job well for hot laps. Bout 2-3 laps and the oil tempt shoots through the roof. Out of factory, this car is great for cruiser and do one hot time attack lap. For multiple laps to enjoy the track day...the Porsches WIN..........No contest.
