Default Today's Market Adjustment Value on a GT2, Questions

Hi,

I was at a local Porsche dealer today. They have a Meteor Gray 997 GT2 on the floor. The window proudly presents this sticker:

Market Value Adjustment: $56,003.00

I have 2 questions:
(1) How do they calculate market adjustment value? The $56,003 figure looks almost like it came out of a mathmatical formula. Is that a percentage of MSRP or something?
(2) Who is paying $50k+ over for a GT2 these days? Indeed, who is paying $50k over for ANY car these days?

As always, your education is appreciated.

I have no idea how they calculate the market adjustment, but there is currently a GT2 on ebay for under sticker (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...=p4506.c0.m245).

The "adjustment" in today's market is under MSRP.

On a linear scale the market will continue to adjust lower, whether it's a Porsche or Ferrari or any other high line car.

Just once I'd like them to proudly display the NEGATIVE market adjustment number under the sticker. No matter as the party is oficially over.

Well deserved to be under sticker! Who in their right mind gets rid of the Awesome Carbon Fiber folding shells and order adaptive seats in a GT2!?

I think the market will tell them what the adjustment value really is. MSRP or less

I have no idea how they come up with that number. I suppose they could have a mathematician model the market and come up with a maximum percentage that the likely hood of someone wealthy enough and who just doesn't care about price coming in is good over the next month or so. How ever I don't think this is the case. It's probably just a hopeful number, pulled out of an unmentionable orifice, with some ones and cents added to try and make one believe that it's a real number.

I think they just made that up. You have met car salesmen. Then cant figure out a 20% discount on
a $100. So I am sure they didnt come up with a formula.

Did you see my old GT3 there?

Paul,

They did have your GT Silver GT3 in the showroom. I was looking for the sticker, but they had the windows down. It'd be fun to see what the sticker PROUDLY shows.

Ding, ding, ding...we have a winner!

Market adjustment is just a way to jack up the price. The only formula that can be applied is called greed. However, they should have the right to try, just as we have the right to ignore.
