my car is completely stock in regards to weight other than the 996gt3 bucket seats (minus 50lbs or so) and the rear GMG center section (minus 16 lbs) but I do have the rear roll cage (45lbs added)

so really I'm not that much lighter than stock, I'd be better off taking out all the carpeting than anything as I'm pretty sure that weighs at least 70lbs.

I drive with the AC on actually. still have radio but listen to Chromeo on my ipod when I'm lapping.

CJ: I would be interested to hear if you can meet 92 db at Laguna Seca with a GMG center section, even with a "quiet switch". I seriously doubt that 92 db is possible without the stock center section, but I would be thrilled if were.

Please keep us posted!

doug I'll be reinstalling the stock exhaust...there's no way the car would be below 100 with the GMG center section...

I think Laguna will be worth all the trouble. Truly a fantastic racetrack with a lot of history. Good luck to you.

airbox foam, stock exhaust, quiet switch = less power, like 996 GT3 power with extra weight.

mooty is a visionary, he's got a 996 GT3 instead.

I think those AWE turndowns look pretty badass for what they are.

Good luck meeting the regulation guys.

yeah well now he's selling his RS. worst case scenario I'll just bring my MX5 cup out, throw on the skip barber supertrap, and go 10/10ths with no fear of fender damage. either way, look for me going really fast through T9...I'm easy to spot as I drive with my lights on

CJ, you can use my Muffler I had made. It just bolts on where the Exhuast tips bolted on to the center muffler. It worked for me.

you will find how it looks here:

kevin, I'll take it and bring it back nice and shiny in one piece. do I need special bolts to hold the extra weight?
