cannot believe - rms again
Something has to be different
First 2 lasted approx 15000kms the last 2 have each lasted 2 weeks and we aren't talking about a drop or two we are talking about fresh oil all over the garage floor making a 2 foot long strip
Wtf?

Before they bought back my '07 GT3 ( when it was in for its fourth RMS in 11 months and 3700 total miles) I asked about the turbo seal and even gave my service manager the part number Alex had provided. He checked with the Porsche Regional Field Technical Manager (nice fancy title) and was told that if I wanted that seal it would be at my expense and the factory engine warranty would be voided. I did not go that route. However their answer would suggest that perhaps their is a engine pressure vent issue that the leaky seal is hiding and that a seal such as the turbo seal which would not leak would expose....... just a thought. Anyway I am now driving a Cayman S that while not as strong as the GT3 does not leak and is fun to drive....... stand by for some mods. Take care

Hey Jack.. wait till you see what we did with the Cayman.. I'll post some pix shortly but just an FYI, they have RMS issues too but the absolute _worst_ is the power steering failure. The seal and lines go at the track. Over and over It's happened to ours like 3 times already
I don't plan on tracking the Cayman S, it will be my daily driver and fun car as I still have (and plan to keep) the '83 Euro spec SC which is specifically set up for the track. I have not heard of any RMS issues with the last year or so Cayman (thank goodness). Yes I am aware of the power steering issue. A friend here that has a tricked out Cayman S he tracks put a power steering cooler in the front center of the bumper. I have also learned that a key player in the power steering issue is that one of the lines runs right along the engine block and in many cases is laying on it. That of course heats the fluid beyond normal temps and causes the line and connector failures. Just to be safe, I plan to wrap that line in insulation that I used to wrap oil and fuel lines when I had the airplane.
I had a 2006 Cayman S before I had the GT3 and I really like the little car. Very connected to the road, handles great, has plenty of lockable storage and a good traveler. Would be nice to have a little more power but it is not under powered in its present form.
Would be interested to know and see what you have done to yours'. Take care

Paul, I am sorry to hear it. I have been holding off since early this year just because of experiences like yours. What is concerning, why would the amount of the oil from a seal leak be getting worse. what is changing that the amount of the oil escaping is all of a sudden large. I don't like that. The saga continues. Maybe as a customer you should be entitled to a FACE to FACE with this rep. Make him take some heat for this continued failed repair. Make his day as miserable as yours for having to deal with this frustration..

- here is a phone pic (sorry) of the amount of oil that has come out in the last 2 days
- my foot is on the left for reference
- the dealer actually ordered a new tool for the last install (porsche rep came to see the car and suggested it)

Hey, they have a new 'cayman s sport' out now, 303hp with a sport exhaust, looks sweet just got the pcna email.
Sorry about your RMS, that really sucks. Turbos are the only late model porsche cars not afflicted by the RMS, I'd be tempted to give it a try if you're near the end of your warranty anyway.

Good tips and we'll figure something out on the steering. I agree it's a fantastic car indeed.
