Let's say some troop of ricer cars invaded your neighborhood and jammed their stereos all nite. Vicodin would be like drinking a fifth each nite to go to sleep. Lyrica would be like a magical hand that could turn down the volume to almost "off"

Paul,

Back on topic, did you sell to a dealer? If so, I'd love to see what price they are asking next time the car surface.

Best of luck on the pain-management side. My better half is suffering from RA, and we are slowly getting onto a similar boat.

Paul,

If Carlsen paid you $125k, they would surely ask A LOT more than $129k for their first salvo.

I talked to 2 sales Porsche people (Carlsen and Fletcher Jones) and they swore that their clients are NOT affected by the economy and happy to pay whatever the dealer asks. I think they were both talking about Mooty. .

OG,

Sorry to hear the car is going, too. But sorrier to hear of the root cause. If you do go for an M3, be sure to get the EDC. Back to back against a base 997 Carrera on 18s, the M3 had a FAR better ride, and pretty darn good handling, too. Only so much you can do with a short wheelbase...

Whether or not you hang around here (I hope you will), I'll hope to meet you someday.

OG. Have you considered surgery? I know back surgery has a bad rep. but I have been suffering from lower back pain for years from a L5/S1 herniated discs, and after years of therapy (didn't do anything), I finally got hospitalized in emergency after losing sensation of my legs caused by the hernia pressing on the sciatic nerves (pain was unbelievable). My doctor told me the only solution was surgery or I would be left with permanent nerve damage.
I went through micro-surgery back in July and it's been amazing, I recovered and the pain is gone. I got my life back. My doctor is amazing and I can't thank her enough.
I know every body's case is different but worth considering.

Good luck and I know what you are going through.

Jack I'm glad all is good for Mattew and I agree nothing is more important than family, as a dad I know how much you can worry for your kids.

Pete the M3 is loaded tech and EDC and premium. The thought of my not having a Porsche hard yesterday. My Excellence came in and its the first TIME EVER(in 6 years) I didnt ripp it up like a Christmas present and ravishly read it cover to cover.
I put in on my nightstand and I gaurantee I will read it and I wont let my subscription to go either.
Still very sad for me.
thanks Pete

you forgot too mention the seriously underwhelming (as seen previously on late model BMW covered wagons) brakes!

Or that the plain Carrera did just as much with 100~ horses less. But I was going for hope, my man!

pete

P.S. Don't get me started on Bimmer brakes... but I will say this: back to back, I finally saw what some of my colleagues here at Ross have been talking about with re: to the "wooden" feel of Porsche brakes. I never agreed til I did 600 miles in both cars, back to back. The M3's were easier to modulate, if inferior otherwise. Base Carrera with PCCBs, anyone?

No problem on the Street Allegretto unless you are coming off the eastern Sierra and there are more than 8 turns. Other wise Upgrade. warped rotors and busted pads at the track not to mention boiled fluid.
