Stock MPSC N0 spec in 19s sucked. Went to Toyo RA-1s in 18 (CCW wheels) and they were OK. Lasted a long time but a bit low on grip. Just put on R888 255 and 315 and they work a lot better on the GT3. I heard Hoosiers are better but you can't drive to the track on them because they do not last at all.

I am running the OEM 19's MPSC, and got 1172 track miles, 2845 road miles out of the first set of rear tires, and will probably get twice that on the front. On my 996 GT3 I am getting similar mileage from the rear tires (18" MPSC's) and 2 to 2 1/2 that from the fronts. I mostly have driven lately at Spring Mountain, but had a wonderful time on the full configuration (4.5 miles) Miller Motorsports track June 9. I got a little more wear on the fronts from Miller than Spring Mountain.
I tried some Hoosier Grand am scrubs and they did not work for me. I would look at getting Hoosiers again only if I do substantial changes to the suspension. I trying to improve my driving to get everything I can out of the car(s) mostly stock before I mess to much with suspension.

R888's for me, 18" 255/315's, but if I ever trailer, I will probably go to either HooHoos or possibly to Michelin Slick takeoffs. Per NGT and Orbit, even weekend old scrubs are faster and last longer then any of the above, and as takeoffs they cost about $1200 or so.

i used one set, now i am on my 2nd, soon i shall risk driving to track with them on....
they are BAD.

I have driven 88 miles each way to the track on RS303, RS304, and R6's when I wake up too late to load the trailer. Has never been a problem. If they were that delicate I would not trust them at 150mph into turn 1 at TWS!

R6's are pretty good, R888's are good, RA1's are still my fav...not because they have more grip, it's because they last longer and don't cycle out like the others in my experience. So, while I continue to learn, they make the most sense on the RS. On the race car...dunlop slicks...holy crap!...they stick like velcro...easier extra second on my 996.

My R 888's lasted longer than I would expect - about twice as long as the Michelin Cups in 18 inches. By the way, several guys locally are running 18 inch wheels with PCCB with no issues.
The Toyos were hell when new. Squirm like I could not believe! For track buy them shaved and save yourself some pain. They warm up in a lap and don't seem to get hard with heat cycles like the Cups. A pretty good deal but they do not stick like the Hoosier.
