Pirelli tire question....

Mooty just as an FYI Wheel Enhancement does not carry them. I just tried to order the Toyo's from WE couple of days ago to go with my new Chamption RS 98 wheels but it was a no go. Ended up getting the Cups. Just wanted to know about Toyo's for "next time" since the Cups are pretty pricey, although from your note the Toyo's are not cheap either...Thanks for the reply.

My "new to me" GT3 came with Corsas and I'll be happy to try them out. I've run "real" Cups, the 19" fake Cups Porsche created with Michelin (the other OEM tire for the GT3), RA1s, PS2s, etc. all on the track. I say "fake" on the 19" PSCups because they are not the same tire as all of the other sizes of PSCups. Porsche had Michelin reformulate them (I swear it's just PS2 compound - based on sound and feel on the track) and changed the design (ie: 2x wider rain channels, different shoulders). There are other threads that cover how different these are including one from a TR guy that posted a side-by-side photo pointing out the differences.
When I was taking delivery of the GT3, the rear Corsas were only 3mm which did not meed the 4mm standard for CPO - so they had to replace them (ironic as the tire has 6mm when new, so 3mm rears are only 50% worn). I had them put PS2s on and ship me the Corsas. Once I run through the 19" OEM "hybrid-Cups" currently on my Volks, I'll put on the Corasas to try them and ultimately when I burn through all of these tires, I'll put R888s on and finally have a "true" R-compound, though DOT rated tire.
In general, I've compared TraqMate data with similar cars and it looks like the PS2 and 19" Cup both give about 1.4 G braking and 1.5 G lateral cornering grip, while the R888 / Nitto (in 18") give about 0.10 more in each.

I double checked and two of my friends 07's came with Corsa systems as well.
My problem with the corsas is that they have so much tread depth, but they seem to cycle out quickly. maybe 3 weekends or so? with more than 50% tread left which is fine for the street but I can't hit the same lap times at the track until I get a new set. it may be psychological but new corsas are worth over 1 second then 6 day old corsas.

Not to be a total dork, but 6/32" is about 4.75 mm, and 3/32" is obviously about 2.37 mm.

I couldn't believe it when I heard CPO would not pass 3/32 rear tread. The fronts had the 4/32 required and I thought "the tires come with 6/32 new and now have 3/32 which means 50% worn and CPO is failing them?!?" I made the same comment, that the CPO rule must be figuring 10/32 stock summer tire new depth, like you see on the PS2.

That link above has them in the right sizes, 235x35x19, and 305x30x19. I'm very close to ordering some but I can't decide if they're better than the Corsas or not, utqg rating (which may or may not mean anything) is considerably higher meaning they're harder so I'm still reading up on them and the magical heat cycling process.

they do come in 19" stock sizes.
I use 18" wheels for the track but am having Toyo R888 255/35/18 front and 315/30/18 rears installed this time. They have less diameter for better accelleration than the stock sizes and the 18 sizes I was using plus they are wider.

He classified the mpsc the same with the corsas, and didn't mention the hoosiers. I need to remember those instead of the corsas since this will be my second set of wheels stored at one of the tracks so I will never have to drive on them.
