Would you trade: 06 430 & 07 gt3 rs for 430 SC?
I have the opportunity to trade my 2006 F430 (loaded with a $232K sticker and 3,300 miles) and my 2007 GT3RS (also loaded with a $149K sticker and 1,300 miles) for a new 430 Scuderia. I'm not 100% sure of the details yet, but I'm trying to decide if it's worth it.
I spend my time split between the South and the West Coast. Shipping the 430 back and forth between and keeping the RS in the South. While on the West Coast (6 to 8 months at a time) I don't really get much of an opportunity to come back and drive the RS.
Part of me says "trade them both, you only need and have the opportunity to drive one. On the other hand, I look at both cars and have a hard time justifying giving up two great cars, for on incredible car, that for all practical purposes, is not THAT much different than the F430 I already own.
I know it's a personal decision, but any comments? I would appreciate it.
Thanks

I have a friend who has been trying to trade his 997 Cup and F430 for the SC but every dealer simply turned him down. The SC is extremely difficult to get at this time and will be in demand for quite sometimes.

Two great cars for one incrdible car? Are you sure about that? I think your RS also qualifies as incredible, but I am biased.
If the SC will be worth a lot for some time to come, then it needs to hold a potential value of over $400,000; is that not correct? Isn't your 430 worth over your MSRP, as is your WHITE RS? There is a dealer in Cali trying to sell a white RS for over $210K currently; I just read this yesterday here on Rennlist. He might be smoking crack, but you do have the rarest and possibly most desirable color for an RS.
Look at it this way; if someone made this offer to you, then they have a good reason for doing it; I'm sure they are not doing it for charity if the SC is worth more than your current 430 and RS. They probably think your two cars are worth more, and I think they are too. You have a 997 RS and a 430; both are doing very well in holding their values (both are above MSRP) and one is definetely incredible (the RS that is) and the other doesn't seem to shabby either from what I have read.
Don't do it!
Just my opinion which you did ask for.

You've got two beautiful, exclusive cars there. I wouldn't change that. I wouldn't drop $400k (and go from two amazing cars to one) on a Scud unless I were a serious F-car collector. And had a bazillion dollars.
Would you track the Scud?

I think a lot of ferrari ppl get caught up un having the newest most exclusive car regardless of its purpose. If you're michael schumacher you might gain a second or so out of the 430S over the 430 around Fiorano. If its going to be a street car, what's the purpose? The 430 is already a capable track car. So the 430S shifts as fast as the '04 F1 car, is louder, comes with an optional roll bar and racing stripes, some front valence changes, a couple extra ponies, a few less lbs. It is less comfortable on the street on account of the seat material and hard CF everywhere. Yes, you do get a limited production ferrari that will trade at a premium (possibly forever) but only if you let it sit in your garage and what fun is that?

I wouldn't trade in a million years.

Definitely not! You probably won't use the full potential of either of your current cars right now, what's the point of this trade? Your driving habit will remain exactly the same, and the Scud looks 98% similar to your current 430...

In terms of value, I'd keep what you have. Your F430 likely delivers in excess of 90% of the enjoyment of a scud. The RS is the best 911 ever made IMO, and provides a very different but no less enjoyable, driving experience than the Fcars.
If I were in your shoes, I'd admire the scud but favor the contrasting driving experiences of your two rides over the scud.
OTOH, buying a new Fcar, let alone a Pcar, are not decisions based on logic. More like accessability (availablity excess capital) and emotion. So, it's hard to justify one decision over the other when such decisions are based more on emotion than logic.
Good luck. I'd hate to be in your agonizing situation! LOL

i have a gt3 just like yours that i love but would obviously trade for a regular 430. i would also trade both of them for a scud just b/c to me its the wildest car going. i might reconsider if your 430 was a spider. then make the gt3 into pure track weapon with spider for street.
as far a scud vs cgt - no warantee, no stability control (explains the many crached cgt's), difficult clutch, and insane $ of carbon repairs even if slight damage make cgt much less practical than scud. i love the cgt and will be a true collectable in 50 yrs but im afraid of it.
