Default lookng for pictures of a 996 techquipment bar in a 997 ...

title says it all, if possible I'd like to see a picture of the bar mounted down at the driver/passenger front seatbelt; I wonder if the seat track will clear the 996 bar, it wont clear the 997 bar

Thanks in advance!

Larry - I'm almost positive it won't. The 996 bar in a 996 doesn't with the euro seats. the seat track catches by an oh so small amount. Can't see it being much different in the 997. Also the lower mounting is basically identical between the 2 bars ... with the exception that in a 996 bar, there is a solid metal piece (looks almost like the spool thread comes on) which the bolt goes thru which is placed in a large round hole at the bottom of the bar, where with 997 bar it a basically a large thick washer type thingy (excuse the extreme technical terms I'm using here) which is presssed into the lower bar (makes for easier mounting)

You thinking about replacing your 997 bar?

yeah I doubt that it will either ... it was worth a shot ... I REALLY like the 997 bar but would really like
to get my seat back further and lower too ... either that or I will have to shrink!

I'm no mechanical engineer, but have you thought about modifying the seat bracket? Maybe cut away a bit of the bracket where it touches the rollbar bolt to maybe get another 1/2-1" of seat travel? Not sure how much material there is there and how it might effect the integrity. I'm sure someone else could chime in.

Unless I'm misunderstanding your question, a LOT of guys have 996 tequip bars in 997s. I have 996 GT3 seats, and there's plenty of fore/aft travel. I'm 6'0 mostly in my legs, and there's more space than I know what to do with.

I can only give you my reasons. It allowed me to put 6 point harnesses in my car with the GT3 seats. I can mount my camera and timer on the Bar and it works for me for DE's which is all that I am doing at the moment. If I decide to sell the 3 or if I had some serious warranted work that had to be done, but could be voided by on track performance, i can return it to its original condition. Its allot safer that street seats and a 3 point.

those are my reasons too, I'm not prepared to butcher the interior of a $100k plus bar to weld/drill something better into it ... anyone know of a better bolt-in,
DAS?

I'm going to try and drill lower/raked mounting holes on the factory sliders and see how that works!

Ah, from the pictures above your seats are about as far back as mine are; so I think you will find that
the seat slider on the outside of the seat has impacted the mounting bolt for the roll bar

thanks for the cool pictures - love the natural red interior!

DAS sport .... better option ... it will protect "you" ..... will not void or diminish the cars value... the tubing is heavier..... supports mount to the shock towers.. not trying to change your mind.. i fully understad the value of the 100k car i am driving one now,.... and had the das sport bar in my 997 gt3 as well

AGREED, from what I have seen and heard from friends who have them!

BUT Matt, the GT2/3 Clubsport bar from Porsche Motorsports is different and QUALITY from Porsche, it's not the tequipment though, it's what I have!
