Worked at a gas station in the 80s after dropping out of college, and two traders from Merill Lynch across the street came over and asked me to drive them to the Porsche dealer and drop them off, 2 hours later they both showed back up in brand new 87 targas.
Fast forward, I'm pro racing a BMW, and I buy a 996 cup car to drive on off days and club race, I win June sprints, and am hooked...see the list in my sig!

Burning Brakes
my vehicle history has been an "axis powers" journey which eventually led to getting a Porsche GT3.
1967 Lambretta LI 150 Silver Special -- my pride and joy for 10+ years before it got stolen in 1998.
1972 Vespa P200 -- rally 200 engine, cut down fairing and side panels, wheelie machine. crashed and traded to a pro skater for skateboard decks, clothes and cash in 1993.
1972 VW Bus -- my first automobile. did many drives between Bay Area and San Diego. good for hauling skaters and scooters. traded in.
1994 VW Jetta -- my first brand new car. was debating between this or Acura Integra. VW dealer was willing to give me more for by VW Bus than i paid for it, so went with Jetta. sold with ~125k miles on it.
2000 Audi S4 -- only car i've bought without even driving one first. sold with ~120k miles on it.
2005 Mitsubishi Evo MR -- was going to go snowboarding. woke up late. decided to go look at cars. got dealer to let me test drive one. bought after test drive. still might be the most fun to drive car i've owned. developed engine trouble after 25k mile service at dealer. rebuilt under warranty. engine was going out again within 1yr. rebuilt under warranty again. sold back to dealer. warned people on Evo forum to not buy it. would get another one of these if i could find low mile, non-modded one.
2008 Audi RS4 -- was going to order a B8 S4, then this car got traded in on a R8. had around 15k miles and still looked new. now has 65k miles. daily driver.
2010 Porsche GT3 -- bought off RL member about a year ago. red eye flight to Florida. test drive. write check. fly back home that day. wait for InterCity truck to show up. have put about 5500 miles on it so far. need to put on another 70k miles.

Crazy to see the stories on here. I had quite a crazy ride.
Age 17 - 1997 Toyota Supra Turbo
Age 19 - 1993.5 Toyota Supra Turbo (650hp)
Sold both those cars to buy a home and went through some normal cars
Age 21 - 2006 Lexus IS350
in-between the years I focused on work, bought and sold a bunch of homes and decided to get back into cars.
Age 27 - 1993.5 Toyota Supra Turbo (sold because California laws are harsh on modified cars)
Age 28 - 2007 911 Turbo (sold because I wanted a more of a raw feeling car)
Today Age 29 - 2008 911 GT3 997.1 and my daily driver is a 2011 Lexus RX350.
