Default Hoosier R6 Tire life

How many heat cycles are you R6 users getting before noticing significant performance decline?

No, I typically get 16-20 sessions, however, performance drops steadily after the first 8 sessions in my personal experience

OK, from the other end, how many laps does it take to scrub Hoosier R6 tires in, for maximum performance?

I have used some R6s up to 30 HC, and others to 20 . Track, temperature, car set up and driving style have a great influence. After 10 HC they definitely loose a lot of there stickiness.

so basically you get one weekend of super stick, then you start gambling on how good you can counter steer.

The Hoosiers should be perfect for you John! I've followed you on the track and you are a master at countersteering!

(all you need is a trailer to get the car and /or the Hoosiers to the track)

Law, to answer scrub question, they are good to go after one 20 minute heat cycle in my experience..then your next 4-7 sessions will be epic, then you will notice deteriorating performance until they are used up in roughly 16-20 sessions (in my experience)

But, Hoosier break in is quite different and I've followed it to a tee before with same results as not following it...they recommend one cycle, slowly bringing up to full heat then letting cool for I believe 72 hours...Sometimes their break in recommendation doesn't fit into my track schedule and tire wear, so I've put them on and run hard for a whole weekend..

Dan, don't forget to tell them that you're running 3.3 degrees of neg camber everywhere...lol

Thanks - TireRack heat cycled them for me, which is supposed to make them last for a few more heat cycles.

CJ, true statement, lol, that's why I always include "in my experience"...actually Hoosier even sates that for optimal life the neg camber in my range (low 2's to mid 3's) helps lifespan since they wear more even..
saw your cars today, my nephew loves your RS

Law, you will love them, update this post on your experience as well, I'd like to hear how they work out for you..

dan- just wait til the full GMG exhaust gets there and installed- I might finally be louder than you!

oh and do you want me to chase you with your camera next time we're out so you can check yourself out?

I miss driving so much! I've got a crappy front wheel drive rental car...

CJ, you'll be louder, I took off the muffler bypasses and Ruf did the custom weld/crossover the same as Jacky's RGT....it's loud, but not anywhere near the bypasses...When you get back, we'll mount the camera in your car so you can be chase cam man for a session or two, only a few more weeks left..
