Default Break Squeel??

Finally got to drive my GT3. Awesome!!!

One thing though, at low speeds when stopping, the breaks really squeel. I'm not talking a little bit either. The car has 2000 miles on it.

Is this normal, or do I have a problem?? Could the pads be worn out in 2000 miles?? If it is normal, is there any way to make it better??

Thanks!

DK

PS, these are not ceramics.

when doc said brake hard, he means HARD.
go to 60miles and brake as hard as you can without locking up (do not lock up) to 30mph, do 6x or so. then 80mph to 40 mph for 3-4 x, then you should be fine.

Mooty for got to mention .....................

Be sure to do this DURING Rush hour traffic and see how many mini-van drivers (that are talking on their cell phones) yank the steering wheel to avoid you and hit the jersey wall

Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about! However, to ensure that all the van drivers can gain complete appreciation of this exercise, my experience suggests it should only be accomplished at or above 8000rpm with Sharkey's exhaust!

Seems like we have to do this from time to time. Why dont Ford or Chevy brakes squeek?

They have softer pads.

My brakes squealed like a bad city bus from the beginning. The bedding procedure described above did not make it go away.

Told the tech at the dealership, who said Porsche wants to know about GT3's with brake squeal.

A field engineer from Porsche AG who was in the country flew in, tested my car for two days, and replaced my rear calipers and pads and front pads. I was told the new calipers were an "upgraded version" with some type of integral shim/vibration dampening material. Apparently some GT3's have them and others don't.

My brake squeal is 100% gone and I am 100% impressed with Porsche's service.

Thanks for the info! I'll try the bedding procedure first, and if it doesn't work I'll take it in. Like a bad city bus (or garbage truck) is exactly how I would describe it.

My dealer is in another state. Can I just switch to softer pads?
