Default 20" After market wheels?

I was just reading the article in Excellence (4/08) about the 997tt and they installed 20" rims that looked awesome. What do you guys think about 20" rims on a 997 GT3 for street useage? & how would it effect the ride?

If any one has done this what tire did you use?
Tire rack has some Pilot Sport PS2's

Aloha.

nobody runs 20" anymore.
so yesterday.
i run 22" with an aspect ratio of 10.

ok, i'll knock it off.
if you run 20", there are very few wheel and tire choices. and most are low perf and heavy.

also, if you hit a pot hole even at 5mph, kiss your wheel good buy.

19" is as large as i would go. but it is YOUR car.

The 993 TT guys are starting to throw 19"s on the TTs -they be styling in Florida. I dont like the look but
I am not a sophisticated Miami style expert. I think going up in size from OEM is pure bling. it adds unsprung weight. I think it really ruins a the look of the 993TT. It messes up the stock geometry.
Having said that RUF makes it look nice, but its tuned with the RUF suspension. Going 20" on our cars??!! I dont think so. I think it makes ALOT
more sense to buy a base 997 Carrera, put an aero kit on. Then bling it up all you want. Put 22's on it with spinners. Really a GT3 is not the place for 20" wheels. 18" maybe but not 19s.

Default Geeesh!

You guys are awesome!

I was just curious about the 20" looks ok, but your comments are true dat.

18" are better in 19", why?
I do see more tire choices for track days, but......

More tire choices as you say, but if I remember correctly the car came out of the package with a push.
Guys went to the 18" and corrected some if not all of that I think. I dont know how much of that
would be corrected with a good alignment and corner balance. But that was some of the idea.

why 18 better than 19"

ideally you want the smallest wheel that will clear your brakes, small to reduce wt.

my car did have initial push, but my OEM tires was most likely old stock (my next set of OEM tires were less in pushing with same alignment).

most push can be dialed out with alignment.
