What Is The Availability of 2008 GT2 ???
Just wondering... what exactly is the availability of a 2008 Porsche GT2 ?
Is it on allocation / on a per order basis / or just not available to regular folks?
Where could "one" buy one... provided one was interested?

Call around to dealers. I was told 100 for the U.S., then 150, then 199 cars; who knows. The word is that not all dealers will even get one, and even the high-volume stores may only get 1-3 cars.
MSRP cars are all spoken for, I'd bet, but any exotic broker could get you one, depending on how much you're willing to spend.

What if I only wanted to pay MSRP?
Would I be S.O.L. ???
I heard 200 for the U.S. But, I think that's baloney. Total '08 production is 1500 (I heard).

the last stealer i spoke to said that he had "many good customers" and only one gt2 and the bidding would start at msrp. i would expect to see 40k-50k over for a while....

are you serious? thats just stupid! why would someone pay 40K over the retail price of the vehicle? people must realise these cars will not hold value? sure there will be supply demand for the first months, i might just go out back and burn some $100 notes.

I am growing tired of good Porsche customers getting ripped off. Even Ferrari allows their
good customers to buy at MSRP. that seems to be a thing ot the past with Porsche.
They are gaging on thier own Euros.

While the Porsche numbers all are under 200. I doubt we will see 996 type price declines the new car is alot better and not so far off RS prices with options included. Dont forget that is only about 2 per state and less than RS production so far, not a whole lot when you think about it.

OK.......... So, what is the answer??????????
If someone wants to upgrade from a GT3..... Where do you go?
The RS is a fine choice, but not enough of a difference, IMHO.
The Turbo has gobs more power, but I think I would prefer the GT3.
Paying $250K for a GT2.... is that the only option?

Also, I think "good Porsche customers" are getting GT2s at MSRP; it's just there are so few GT2s to go around, we may not necessarily hear about it here on Rennlist.

Ferrari doesn't allow their customers to get cars at MSRP - their dealers do, just like Porsche. If you have been a good long standing customer many Porsche dealers sell you car after car at MSRP or less. But if you have not been that long term customer there is no reason why they should give you the benefit of a very strong market for a limited supply of GT2's. If their are people who can and will pay $50K over for a GT2, good for them and good for the dealer.
As frustrating as that may be that is simple supply and demand. They are in business to make money and if they have something they can make 5x the normal profit they should only choose to take less if they believe it in the best interest of their business long term. And I know each of us has an opinion how they should best run their business, but our opions don't count, unless you vote with your pocketbook by not buying. The only other choice is to work the system and buy some cars from them, so when you want something you can get it.
