A dumb one....
So it's going to be a few years before I will have the money, place and time to enjoy a 997 GT3. Shooting from the hip, what do you think a low mile modestly equipped '07 GT3 will sell for?

In 2010, I bet they will be $75k, if not less, as long as they come out with a mk. II. Just look at the 996 GT3 values. RS's may still demand more of a premium than the difference in MSRP for the cars though, so maybe over a hundred k still. This would also depend on whether they come out with a mk. II 997 GT3 RS.

I have no idea on price, but I'd guess that the 997 GT3 will hold their value much better than the 996 GT3. Just talk to people, they inspire passion like the 993 does and the 996 didn't mainly because no matter how good of a car the 996 GT3 was a lot of people couldn't stomach the looks. A lot of people will be looking for one, high demand will keep the prices up. Even if they come out with another great version of the GT3 soon it will still be a sellers market.

For the 996 GT3 MkII: about 750 2004s and about 100 2005s were sold in the US.
For the 997 GT3 MkI: over 1000 have been sold including the RS, 2007 & 2008. And more than likely there will be MkII in a year or so.

THe numbers for the US for the 996 GT3 in 04 and 05 were just over a thousand so say 1100
the 997GT3 was around 600 for US in 07 and 270 for RS and 100 08 GT3s with 60ish RS's
so the numbers were pretty close right around 1100 997 versions (GT3 and RS's) and 1100 996 Versions.
Mjones or someone has the exact numbers but I bet I aint in Left field here (I played SS from 6 YO till 40 YO-no not on the same team!)
My guess is the 997 version will be worth than the 996 with the same depreciation stats Milage age etc.
its(997) a better looking car and will be more desirable. But the 996 GT3 is still one of the best 911s ever created
and thus may become the bargain that cant be passed up.

Alright, so I'll concede that the 996 headlights don't help it's value. The 997 looks fantastic and that will help it. But I still think these cars value reflects whether it's the hottest available. As soon as a new model comes out, it won't be. So I'll revise my late 2010 estimate to 79K for a vanilla 2007 997 GT3. I've bookmarked this thread... See you in two and a half years.

I think the 996 and 997 are both beautiful cars, with the main difference being the cleaner and more traditional headlights on the 997. I could care less if my 997 looked like a 996, as long as I get the mechanical and structural improvements of my 997, those are the most important.
When I went from my 2003 996 to my 2005 997, the entire car was much better; a huge improvement in driving. The exterior? A very minor change.

my WAG: MSRP + (T & L) - $10K per year
(for a low option, normal mileage car, not a GQ)
btw, I have the same WAG for any modern-era 911 less the (T & L) term. So basically you'll get a bonus depreciation-free year with the GT3. That's it.

What is wrong with the looks of the 996 GT3? People could not stomach the looks? You make it sound like we are talking about an AMC Pacer or Pontiac Aztec. I still have a hard time telling the difference between the 996's and 997's unless I have a clear view of the headlights.

I love the 996 looks in GT3 form. I was just referring to early 996 prices compared to 993 prices. I think even with the GT3 a good portion of the market is still fickle.
