Default I did the GT3 Seats and bar install today.

After allot posts I finished the install on my bar and seats today. it was 5 hrs from start to finish. I pulled the side panels off the back and and pulled the carpet back so that it would expose the bolt holes for the roll bar. as you can see in the attached pics, you have to cut back the tape to get access. I also have pic of the one screw you must take off before the back panel comes off. Last, I did pull the carpet back near the door to cut some of the plastic under the carpet near the rocker panel so I could get the bar to slid down into place. All in all it was as expected and I goterdone.

Nice Job Todd!!!
thats a great time to bond with your car. James Bond.

I did that with my 996 GT3 and outside of breaking my windsheild and setting off the airbag lite I had a grand time!!!!

I will tell you what you have to love about Rennlist, last night when i was just pulling parts off, I started with the passenger side and when I lifted the seat to unplug the wires, as per Carrera Mike's DIY, I encounter a CPU unit, which I panicked. So I took the pick and posted it on the list to be sure I could just unplug it, and within say 10 minutes, RSman did a PM and a phone call after that and I was right back in business. I would not have the nerve to do the level of DIY work on this car without the list. and as said above you get a good deal of accomplishment out of figuring it out. Thanks to the list.

Thats whats cool about this place-We have volumes of knowledge about our cars in our heads. We can access with a simple post. Then our brothers in arms come to our rescue!!!
The next time someone is in need Todd you will jump all over and even maybe call one of our
bro's, who cant get his stock seats out!!!
Very Neat place this Rennlist. I cant think of another place or forum that, that would happen!!!

I am going to do the same work on my car. Ordered from Porsche: roll bar, seats, anti-sub bars and harnesses.

I watched a video and the roll bar seems to be a tight fit, especially around the rear view mirror, scary tight fit.

If anyone can pass along some valuable information, drop me an email.

I sent an e mail discussing how you have to cut away the plastic under the carpet on the out board rocker panel. I found some pictures that Steve from Rennlist sent me when he was doing this I tried to down load but the are to big. PM me an e mail and i will e mail

I keep trying to make this point. GT3 buckets transform the whole experience of driving the car, whether on road or track. With the buckets, every day is a track day even if you're just getting groceries.

That is also how I look at it and consider this just another benefit of the GT3 seats. I will be getting a pair of cloth ones very soon and the main reason for me is simply the weight savings; I might even just install the drivers side seat and learn how to quickly install the passenger seat for times that I give rides.

I will add a harness bar when I finally get to do some serious and consistent tracking; but for now my GT3 (and I) are on a diet!

If I get the seats in by next weekend along with my Braille battery, then I will be at about 3075 lbs with 2-3 gallons of gas, and about 3050 without the passenger seat. Getting closer to my goal of 2,880 lbs!
