dragon,

i wasn't able to view the pix lastnight. the "kit" you got is NOT for GT3.
all 997 996 986 987 use the same filger and big rubber o ring.
the "plug" you got is for wet sump cars.
the two alum ring you got: the smaller diameter one is also for wet sump cars.
the other ring is correct.
you figured out the missing cupper ring.
the small rubber o ring is NEVER included in any kits i bought, you got to get it by itself.

You are absolutely correct! Thanks for helping me figure out what that 'kit' really was. I knew the small o-ring was not included so I did order it separately, but the missing copper washer really caught me off by surprise. Since I've never seen a correct kit before, I did not realize that they made a mistake before it was too late. Oh well...

I wouldn't rely on that computer check too much. if you shut the car off when warm and the reading is low, wait a couple minutes and restart it, the level will come right up. let it continue to idle for a few minutes and the level goes back down. I have never been able to get a consistent reading from the damn thing. I just make sure I add a quart every thousand miles or so if I go to the track.
