Default Help save me from the noise police

I was sent home early from my last track day because I tripped the noise meter three times on one lap (at 85, 89 and 92 db). Later discovered that the 92 db reading was at the end of a long straight were I had been pulling 8000 rpm in fifth and then let the overrun rip (sounded great from inside the car!). BTW: static limit for this track (Bedford) was 98 which was not a problem.
This is from an unmodified MY 2007 GT3 RS with the Sports switch OFF (they pulled me earlier and suggested I switched it off to keep 'legal').
Setting aside the nonsense that a car that is perfectly street-legal can be denied track use, I am looking for something to carry with me and bolt on if I trip the meters again.
Lots of searching on Google has failed to find anything so suggestions etc most welcome...
PS the avatar shows my 996 turbo cab now kept for summer motoring...

mooty and some of the guys running Laguna Seca have been trying all sorts of stuff. He finally resorted to buying a 996GT3 just for that particular track. He even tried running turn-down pipe ends but no luck. The car is really loud and there are a lot of pansy tracks out there. Sorry to hear you got booted.

Putting the sport switch off doesn't do you any good at 8000rpms...the only real audible difference is under 3500rpms from my observations.

Are the turn down pipes away from the noise meter? Here in Portland, most of the loud cars have them directed away from the meter.

sound is a lot worse depending on the weather- so if you're in england and it's a typical foggy/cloudy day I'm pretty sure your readings will be a lot worse than on a windy clear day

I got nailed last year at Road Atlanta and I'm going to try Supertrapps as a bolt on the the end of my exhaust.
They are "tuneable" so we'll see how they do.

I have seen a solution to your problem in a british Porsche magazine. They do also have problems with noise. It looks like a exhaust tip you put on the existing one. Doesn't look nice though.

I will check it up when I'm back home.

I thought that some of the aftermarket exhaust manufacturers make some very quiet exhausts for our cars just for this reason. I know I saw one the other day; maybe it was a cargraphic???

Can't you just put a silencer, like they use on guns, on the tips? How about a banana?

This is ridiculous really. Good comment on the speed limit; soon 55 will be everywhere.

I run Laguna Seca and trip their meter at 96 db if I don't lift. I just had the following exhaust made for when I run there. I will try it out on 2/25 to see if it keeps me with in the legal limits.

It bolts on where the factory tips bolt on. The factory tips weigh 3 lb.. My add on "Laguna Special" exhaust weighs 11 lb. Thus an 8 lb. increase.

My main concern, at the moment, is that the bumper cover may be too close and could melt/deform on a hot day while running at high RPMs. Gotta test it.
