the flaps in the exhaust is controlled by a vacuum line. if you rig the vac line somehow such that the flap never opens, you will be fine. you will pass 92db for sure.

christian at carlsen knows how to do it.

Over here we also got tight sound restrictions and with time, you get use to seeing funny exhaust system like the one on the supercup. If we want the tracks to stay open, we have no choice but to comply with sound regulations. The cars look funny and sound funny but at least we're all having fun out on the track.

BTW I run a weird cat tip on my B&B exhaust. It looks like a small resonator just before the tip.

Kevin, might try a carbon fiber sleeve to slip over that pipe to help with the heat. You can get one from a motorcycle pipe fairly cheap.

John: you are talking about a 997 GT3, right? I thought I would check before I gave christian a call.

ps: looking forward to Infineon - the long-range weather projections are great.

what's wrong with installing a switch on the dashboard to control the exhaust flaps? two positions: 100% loud or 100% quiet, rather than the stock 100% loud after 4,000 rpm regardless of the switch position.

OK it passed. Partly cloudy day. significantly quieter. At wide open 7-8k it still screams. Heat was not a problem. I was fearful of melting the bumper cover but that was not an issue. Mount was solid. I installed it at the track and then went back to stock at the end of the day. Other folks apparently got the meatball, but not me this time. i would just like to figure a way to make it lighter. Stock tail pipes are 3 lbs vs. 11 lbs for my part.

If any one wants additional pictures or info so your local muffler guy can make you one just PM me.

can you get chrome tips with that?

You should wrap it on non-flammable insulation material, it could ruin your paint on the long term.

It bolts on where the factory tips bolt on. The factory tips weigh 3 lb.. My add on "Laguna Special" exhaust weighs 11 lb. Thus an 8 lb. increase.

My main concern, at the moment, is that the bumper cover may be too close and could melt/deform on a hot day while running at high RPMs. Gotta test it.
I would think you could wrap that in heat tape and it would do the trick. keep us posted that looks like it as potential. Plus its better that the pic above that is from outer space.
