the OP is based in UK.
but i really rathe rhave 997 gt3 or 996 gt3 seats b/c the ability to fold the seat back just add another weak point in accidents. of course i can be totally off base, so dont trust your life based on my gibberish.

the price is much more reasonable than the CGT seats.

i think the CGT seats are way overpriced. i dont mind to pay much more less and have a nice bucket seats just a little heavier but more comfortable.

They are on the US configurator:

Boxster/Cayman: In leather $3055, with full leather $4790

Carrera: In leather $3485, with full leather $6490

Turbo: will full leather $1575

Prices seem reasonable to me. I just don't understand why the seats should me more in the Carrera vs. the Boxster/Cayman

I would think the GT2 seats would be safer due to the integrated thorax airbag. I agree that there is an inherent weak point at the pivot location of the GT2 seat, however, it is probably more likely in an accident the thorax airbag would outweigh that.

yeah that's pretty strange- of course why would you need folding seats in a boxster anyway?

Just guessing, do you think the bucket seats would be free on the next GT3 like the GT2?

Yes, I'd think they would be.

Any guess in availability and pricing as aftermarket?

Doubt it...we got the same standard equipment sport seats the rest of the world did on the 997GT3. The one-piece buckets were optional elsewhere. No reason to think anything would be different next time 'round, except that the optional seat design has changed and now complies with US regs.

Not everybody can fit in an aggressive bucket seat...

I'm going to give Sunset Imports a call next year. If anyone has them for a good price, it'll be them.

This is my favorite option period. Coming from the non-M-sport seats in my Z4, the standard Porsche seats seem so much sportier, I can't imagine these sport buckets!

I think there maybe something same as the GT2, Sport seats and Bucket seats for free.

And the GT2 is more expensive so thats A.S.Seats and bucket seats for free.

That's much cheaper than the CGT seats.
