Not everybody can fit in an aggressive bucket seat...
Good point, I forgot that they weren't standard on the GT3 and was only referencing the RS. So, in the future, probably not standard at least in the US.

looked on the car config @ PCNA.com ... indeed the seats are listed for the 997S at $3485 also I note that the image/picture of the seats is called PP03_detail, my guess then is that the order code for the seats is in fact PP03

To get at the front of the engine without pulling out the seats? There's a panel behind the passenger seats that comes off to give access to the belts, p/s pump, etc. Granted, its not something you access everyday but...

The only semi-regular reason I fold down my seats is to make it easier to get at the rollbars to mount my camera for the track.

I stopped using my GT3 seats on the street after being hit from behind last year. It has been 14 months and my neck still is not 100%. The seat is made for a head with a helmet. When my body when forwards and the belt chage stopped the belt I then went back into the seat. !: shoulders stop and head flexed back. Also, the plactic pieces for the belts hurt like sh^t. With that I just spend the 15 minutes to switch the seats. A friend also suggested building a sleeve with padding. I will look into that solution as well.

No. It is TUV approved for road use . No helmet required and things don't get much tougher than TUV.

I think you're right -- and I think that's a plus (in terms of weight and rigidity.)

Has anyone got other photos (of the side) of the seat or the sliders?

Has anyone found lightweight (alloy) sliders to fit a 911?
