Default PASM "recall"

just across tape
FRANKFURT (Dow Jones)--Porsche AG said Tuesday it is having the control
console for the TC-Off and PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) buttons
replaced on 128 units of the 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS delivered to customers
worldwide.
This involves cars built between Sep. 28 and Nov. 9 2007.
As a result of a defective control console, the Traction Control function
regulating drive forces on the rear axle or the PASM system providing the
sports control of damper forces may malfunction and fail to operate. No cases
leading to complaints have become known so far.
The vehicles involved are required to undergo an inspection in the workshop
lasting approximately 30 minutes. The campaign is naturally free-of-charge for
the customers involved, who will be informed shortly.

Right, this happened on a friend's GT3 which just arrived. The "30 min" inspection includes replacing the center console.

Triple crap, I just got mine yesterday.

Are there VIN numbers we can check against? I might live with it rather than have my center console taken apart. As I read this, the problem is the buttons only?

I spoke to the service manager at my dealer, he is going to do a check for my car/serial number. Based on the production date, I think I have one of the 127. I'm with you, it may not effect me for the way I will be using my car and I don't want someone ripping my car apart unless it truly is a simple repair.

I spoke to my dealer and the information they have got is that the TC suddenly can come on/off at any time. Like on my friend's car they refused to release it to him before they had gotten the replacement console. When they inquired, Porsche did not want to replace the buttons only. I certainly would not drive a car if the TC keep living it's own life! After all it's a free repair.

Spoke to my service manager, my car is not listed for the recall so far. My car was completed on 10-17-2007 and most likely in production prior to 09-28-2007. I'm not sure I dodged the bullet just yet, could be the dealer/me have not been notified by Porsche yet. Has anyone received a formal notice either from Porsche or their dealer?

If your dealer told you that your fine, your fine, Porsche has already put them into Piwis and your dealer would have run your vin, so if they said your fine, you are.
