Default Replacement Rotors

The rotors on my GT3 are cracked pretty extensively after four track weekends and its time to change them. I'd like to go with slotted rotors.....suggestions?

Suggestions for pads? My rear pads are completely worn out (I guess the traction control). My front pads are only half gone....but the front rotors are toast. Rear rotors are fine.

I use my car on the street as well as track.

Thanks.

I switched to Protosport slotted fronts. About 1/2 the price and last 50-100% longer (they do weigh 1lb more than OEM). Call Paul at Protosport NJ. 973 839 5353 if interested.

Thumbs up protosport

I just got protosports put on last weekend and will try them for first time on track this weekend. Price is right and others really like them.

I have the same problem with the rotors. I think they will be ok on the street this winter, but the fronts will need to be replaced before the track events start in the spring. I found a reference and a photo of installed Alcon rotors on a 997 GT3 RS front, but the source is in England, so I am still following up on that.

I already replaced the pads all around - Pagid yellow 29's. Substantial improvement in braking!

Do the yellows make more noise than the stock pads (which also get pretty screeching if used lightly)?

forget alcon, brembo and other high dollar rotors. get protosport. i am really really really hard on rotors. oem rotors are DEAD if i drive 400 miles at LS, i mean cracks from hole to hole at more than 50% of the holes. now that you know how bad i am on discs. i just put 2000 track miles on protosport (thank stisseront and rmag).

they are 1.5# heavier than oem, but i sure can't feel it.

pedal feel is identical to oem rotors.

$350/ea.

call protosport now, i bought a LOT so they may be out.

I've run both yellow and black pagids. Blacks have amazing initial bite, but I like the duration of the yellows, so sticking with those.

Alcons with RS29's.

Not cheap but exceptional performance and durability. Unlike the Brembo's they don't rattle when cold either.

You can get them in either 360 (for steel) or 380mm (for PCCB).

Very helpful....thanks guys.

Is it pretty straightforward to replace the front rotors? I would like to do the work myself. I have done many brake jobs on other cars but have left the work done on my Porsche to dealer until now. Are there any tricks or special tools that I need to be aware of?.....thanks.

I like these as they have the aluminum hats. Do you know what the weight savings would be from stock? Where can I get these and how much for a set of 4? I would think the rears would also have provisions for the e-brake shoes?
