Look on the 996 board...Carrera Mike did a very nice DIY on this subject.

...or Maybe a search on Mike's posts.

I just swapped out my stock seats for the carbon RS seats. You need a E12 Torx socket to unbolt the seats. When removing the tabs covering the bolts, you need a screwdriver to gently pull up the tab before sliding the covers off so the bolts are exposed. As for the electronics, tilt the seat upward once unbolted and slide the tabs apart holding the harnesses together and pull them apart. I ziptied the loose wiring to the floor of the car under the seat so it wouldn't move around. The airbag light will obviously be lit after install.

Why does the light come on? Is it different than the 996? With the 996 the "seat " end is part of the 3 point belt. I just move it all and duct tape it to the floor.

Can anyone post a pic on the front tab that needs to be reoved to access the front bolt? looks to me that whole front cover of rail needs to slide forward or come off in some fashion to expose bolt? To me it looks like the whole fromt cap needs to come off on the 997 which is about 2 inches long , and a littleover an inch wide and deep.

There is a photoguide in the DIY section.

Thanks for the link JON70, although the picture shows the tab for a 996 seat and I beleive the 997 tabs are a little different. Will have another boo.

That DIY was the same I used for my 997 RS. The covers for the front bolts may be different, but the mechanism for removal is identical.
