Default Project Turtle: RS Rollbar for cars without the "euro" plates...

hey folks, figured I'd show you some progress on another green (TURTLE and not ZKERMIT this time) RS. As you know most of the US cars didn't come with the factory plates for the roll bar. It's not too bad to pull the interior apart and on this one we just fabbed our own plates and cut the carpet. I'll have more pix on this one later as we're doing the 997GT3 seats, harnesses, cargraphic mesh screens and the sharkwerks muffler bypass

Out comes the interior:

Here we are mocking it up etc before welding...

There she is welded:

And with the carpet cut around etc..

Thanks for the kind words... I know what you mean. The material is so cheap and it's so easy to do but once they figured the cars were for the US and we weren't getting the seats, roll bar etc... time to save a buck or five!

Looks like Rennline pedals. Am I correct that the throttle is installed without the adjustable lifter plate?

Sharkster,

Job well done!
Can you tell me the size of the plate and it's thickness?
Also, do those bolts come up from under the car or are they welded to the plate from underneath before it's welded into the car?

Thanks

The rennline pedals are very nice.. The heel and toe extensions on the throttle seem like a good idea, but be careful. The toe extension (on the top) extends too far and it is too easy to hit the throttle when braking unless you are very careful with foot position. I talked to a couple of other people who had the same problems. You can remove the toe extension with a hacksaw (it is designed to allow that). The throttle "lifter" plate really isn't necessary. Try the pedals with it first.

But on the other hand, the uber wide throttle plate makes for good heel/toe training pedals. They made it very easy for me to get used to heel/toe using the side of my foot to blip the throttle instead of my heel. That lets me to give a more measured blip than I could with my heel - especially under less than full brake pedal pressure.

I was going to cut the top extension off on my C4S, but instead I have traded that in for a 996/GT3 and NOW I find that I am very comfortable with the stock pedals. I'd call the full top and bottom throttle extension Rennline pedal a good learning tool. I'll put something on top eventually (the rennline's are nice), but I definitely not use the upper throttle extension.
