Just got back from track today. Running the 255/315 combo now (instead of 245/305), no issues on High speed stability under full braking ... besides a small amount due to full tread ... also turnin is much crisper with the 255/35 up front over the 245/40s.
Mooty . your slacking off on us. No track days for a whole week...what...work getting in the way!

pls be more precise:
both your 245/305 and 255/315 are full tread?
and when they were all FULL TREAD, 255/315 is still more stable than 245/305?
let me get ahead of myself here. on hoohoos, there are available:
245/35/18
245/40/18
why 35 aspect ratio, why not 40? i dont know how to calc total diameter. is that why you use 35? help me out here.
295/30/18
315/30/18
if the car pushes as many experienced, why not run 295? is this also due to overal diameter issue?
thanx.

Mooty, yes, I was running on full thread. Good to know on the 255/315 combo, although the way these are wearing it's gonna take a little while before I get to try those.

Are you comparing 245/305 RA1s to 255/315 R888? I read elsewhere that the R888 305s causes some funny problems in stability in the rear. the 255/315 is a good match for diameter. They are both a bit shorter than the 245/305. 255/305 in R888s would have a shorter front tire relative to rear compared to stock. I am running the 245/305 with full tread and they squirm a lot. Plus I made the mistake of putting too much air in the back so lots of tail wagging!

i dont expect R888 to last longer than RA1. my shaved RA1 is only good for 500 track miles, that's including moving them left to right to even out where.
