Black Leather GT3 Seats (996 Version)

Tequiptment Harness Rollbar
And, GT3 Seat Sub Mount Bar

Reasons:

The seats are DIRECT BOLT-IN... no messing around with clamps, brackets, etc. I know they will work and fit and they look great, too. The Harness Roll Bar from Porsche comes through in stainless steel finish. I'm having mine black powder coated. The 6-point harnesses work perfectly with these seats. So, it was a natural to go in this direction.

I should have everything installed by the end of this week, or beginning of next week. I'll be posting pictures of the completed project.

I have a set of the factory sub belt brackets for sale - new and in their wrappers. These are a direct bolt-on for the factory 996 GT3 seats. Part nos. 996 521 933 90, purchased from Carlsen last summer but not used. $75 for both of them, you pay shipping. PM me if you are interested.

(I will be at Rennsport this weekend, so be patient for return on pms)

Wow, too bad I didn't know about that before. Mine are already paid for.
Thanks.

Got my GT3 Euro Seats installed. Nice black leather with Porsche crest.
Harness Roll Bar
6-point harnesses

I'm away at a track event and will use the seats/harness for the first time. I'm using the hotel computer, but I will post pics when I get back.

Yup! And the split-thigh support is a must have.

George, the seats look great. Earlier in this thread I posted that I love the 996 buckets but that I use some padding under the bottom cushions to raise my *** a half inch or so (I'm 5'9"). It not only helps sight lines but also sits my torso better in the body-form of the seatback with my shoulders resting correctly on the upper wings. I find the seats way more comfortable like that. As you're 5'8", I was just wondering how you find their comfort and height?

I'm 5'8" and had 996 GT3 seats in my GT3. I felt I sat a bit lower than I would have liked in the car. I probably would have wanted them to be about 0.5 inches higher. I just received my 997 GT3 seats but have yet to install them. Hopefully will have them in this weekend when I have some time.

The 997 buckets are very similar to the 996 albeit a bit narrower. If you have a larger-than-ideal waistline, you will want to mount the seatbelt receptacle outside the seats. If you're skinny, you will love them. Height-wise, they're pretty much the same as the 996.

Well, it's funny you should ask.....

Since I was aware the 996 GT3 seats would place me in a lower sitting position, I knew I wanted the seats to be mounted higher. I asked the shop that did my complete installation to custom fabricate for me a metal riser channel that was installed between the seat rails and the floor rails.

I didn't really know what height to specify, although I knew that I'm 5'8" and I always pumped up the stock seats to get a good view of the hood. I told them to fabricate the risers at 1-1/2" over stock.

That worked out perfect!!! At the last DE event, several of the guys who had these seats really liked my raised seating position for better view and orientation when tracking the car.

Also, so it would not look silly, I also did the passenger seat at the same height. It worked out great.

Hats-off to my shop... Dougherty Automotive in West Chester, PA. Highly recommended. They did an outstanding job for me.

I must admit it does look good, do you have the full leather option or basic (alacantra)?

thoughts on a good (cheap) source of the seats+rollbar?

w/o harness roll bar at the back,
can the factory 6pt harness that was used in 996 GT3 be fitted on the CF bucket seat of the 997GT3?
