Here is the latest info on these new seats. Expected delivery to the US is 7/2008 as a standard TEQ part number. THey are supposed to be available for new cars starting 11/07 and will be a US option. There is also no pricing or part number info at this time... They are HOT...
The new optional sports bucket seat in leather with folding backrest and integrated thorax airbag (I-no. P03, available from 11/2007 ex factory at the earliest) is a real world first. The folding nature of the backrest means that the rear seats of the 911 models can still be used. Despite this extended functionality, the weight advantage over the sports seat is approx. 15 lbs and as much as approx. 19 lbs per seat when compared to the adaptive sports seat. The use of glass and carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (GFRP/CFRP) contributes significantly to the low weight. Thanks to the excellent lateral support in the backrest, seat cushion and pelvic area as well as the option of using 6-point racing seatbelts (in combination with a rollover bar), the new sports bucket seat is ideally suited to racing circuit driving, such as at Porsche Club Sport events, for example. With a thorax airbag integrated in the outer side of the backrest, the sports bucket seats allows a bucket seat to be offered in the USA for the first time.

Nah...they'll want to sell these to everybody with a 987/997. I'll bet prices are (relatively) reasonable.
If they end up being $7,500-9,000 each, we'll see a lot of them stolen out of cars with the factory option...

Trying to decide to wait or install something else now (Club sport or sparco maybe).

Aren't these fiberglass/reinforced plastic/whatever like the 996GT3 seat?
A key price factor will be the integrated airbags. Perhaps they will be sold without airbag units, which can be moved from an existing 987/997 seat?

Considering what I got for the last CF set I sold, I'm gonna guess $8500 plus adaptors and tracks. the hinge alone might be made of recycled space shuttle alloy, for a total weight savings of .3 grams. And let's face it if Porsche designed them, they GOTTA be complicated!

If you extrapolate the price on the German configurator for these seats, they are cheaper than the RS seats. I am not sure how that will play out for the US though. They can be configured into any boxster, cayman or 911 variant. I am guessing they will be cheaper that the approx $10K/pair for the RS seats, maybe $7500/pair to buy them outright, much less as an option.

I thought that these are going to be the new sport seat option for the '08 cars after December build? Wouldn't that mean that they would not be that expensive? Or are these a Tequipment option only, or exclusive option?
I thought I could order an '08 S in February, and get these for about $1200 over the standard seats. I guess I am wrong.
