I had to unmount/mount my tires when I had them powder coated. The TPS does not need to be removed. They just take out the valve to let the air out. Make sure you find a reputable shop that uses a non-contact system. Otherwise, its just like any other wheel/tires. Just remember the "slick" side of the cups have to be on the outside of the rim. Strangely enough, the tread pattern differ depending on if it's left or right mounted.

Thanks fr your reply NSXTC !!!
I figured I will find a good shop here and see the work done myself. You are right ,I must make
sure the slick side of the MPSC's stays on the outside.
Do you think the tire dismountiing machine could damage the inside sensors ???

There's always a chance when you get some mechanic that's careless. Make sure you ask the tech if he's done one (make that quite a few) that has TPS before.

Does anyone know of a good tire place in the bay area with the non-contact machine?

I heard that a Corghi Artiglio Master machine is a really good one.

All the major chains have non-contact machines. They also have deep pockets so if they screw up a rim, they'll replace it without a huge fuss.

Hi Holger,

I am in the East Bay near Danville, but I will go anywhere from Santa Rosa to San Jose.

Thanks,

Arnold, Devek in Hayward had one when they were in Redwood City. You might want to check with them. There are probably others in the East Bay that I don't know of.

I use & recommend Waterfront Automobili here in SF (on 17th in Potrero Hill). Call Sal at 415-861-2223. I think they are a Tire Rack approved installer (you can have them shipped directly there) and for a few bucks extra they'll clean and wax your wheels too. It's a 2 man shop and they're very careful and diligent.
