Default Miles needed for max performance

997 GT3's/RS's delivering best performance/acceleration after how many miles?

Mine improved significantly between 1000 and 1500 miles.

It will improve massively till about 5k miles. Probably 8k miles and more before it's fully loosened up. And it's not just engine performane. The whole car - clutch, gearchange, suspension feel, brakes, etc - everything gets better, even engine sound. The whole driving experience becomes more fluid, more satisfying. That has been my experience with my 996 RS.

Owners who garage their cars and sell them with 3k miles never get to experience the car at its best. Particularly true of many Ferrari owners. My brother bought his F430 with 1000 miles on it. Today it has 6k miles and, like my RS, it's now much faster and much more enjoyable to drive.

My RS I had for 654 mi. Very stiff and unsure at the track.

When I traded for the 3 it had 12K mi. Runs great! Very smooth thru the gears and strong.

Hey Mooty,

When you're tracking do you come off to pee and such or do you just have a pit crew and a diaper?

Even with 4 track days a month you're putting on thousands! ALMS next season?

CATHETER

not enough money in the bank to field an ALMS team, but if someone paid me, i be more than happy to be the moving chicane and help my employer to the podium by taking out the appropriate opponent

of the 10k on the car only 3k are on track, i have no trailer and each round trip to the track is about 300 miles.

if i were to do a 3 day weekend, i STILL drive home in b/n days. i like to play with my 3 year old and put her to bed. plus mom can't get her to brush her teeth, only bribery and crazy dad can.
