Question I disconnected the plug to make the muffler loud and

it is way lounder than when I used to use the sport button!! There was a noticable difference before when I hit the sport button, but it was more subtle than I thought it should be. Now with the electrical connector unplugged as shown in recent threads, it is crazy loud. Any possible explanations? Could ounly one muffler have been bypassed before??

that's the case with PSE optioned 997's because it stays closed at certain low/mid rpm range even with sport on while disconnecting makes it on at all rpms

this was the first thing i did but it still doesn't sound as good and loud as i hoped

You disconnetected the plug on a PSE equipped 997 correct? Not a GT3.

I did the same thing. I disconnected the plug the first night I had the car. I now have 1450 miles on it, all with the bypass disabled so the exhaust is open and loud all the time. I agree with you, definitely BETTER then with the bypass active and the exhaust quiet, but, still not as good as I nice set of straight pipes!! Right Leif997?? hahaha

I disconnected the plug on my 997S with factory sport exhaust, did a couple of track events, and blew both mufflers out. The dealer expressed amazement that both mufflers were shot, but was happy to replace them on warranty.

I hope the GT3 exhaust systems are more durable.

You sure it was your mufflers or was it the catalytic converters?

I've read before that it's the mufflers that blow out - they have the moving parts and the cats don't.

Why would uplugging the plug cause the mufflers to blow out?

It was the mufflers - everything inside them started rattling around. No catalytic converter replacement.
