Silicone sealant, IIRC, Loc-tite makes it, comes in Red, Blue, clear, depending on application. Red is for high temp apps.

Blue furnace filter- home depot. Still my favorite- best protection I've seen.

is this a screen from a furnace? sounds like it is probably strong stuff, what kind of pattern?
