Finn I am old you know. You know what I meant tho- an 08 with lo miles is going to be only marginally more attractive than a 07 with lo miles in the future comparably equipped.

OG and Finn, what about the distant future >10-15 yrs) with a possible low mileage RS?
what are your feelings wrt value retention if this ends up being the last model with the current engine configuration?

The distant future- the decade- you talk about, what the RS valuation will do- I dont have a clue. I hope it holds a special place, the only thing I think I know is that the 07 and 08 RS wont be far apart for similar miles similar equipment they are the same just like the 04/05.
I think you are correct though that this is the last RS with this configuration. Just watch ALMS and see what happens. If they move the RSR to 3.8 then guess what? the new RS if there is a MkII will be so also. Does it come here? I dont know that either. I dont see why not. Its not like there are no buyers.
IF that does happen what does that mean for the last 3.6 liter RS with probably the last of the non electronic aides. The new one would have direct injection? Sequential gearbox? DSG? So maybe this 3.6 sits upon a pedestal. All good questions. How are the purists going to react? Will they hold the 997MkI GT3RS in high regard or will everyone jump ship and move to the newer technology? I know I get pulled both ways.
I was in Supertech shop today in Fallbrook Ca, and he had 3 motors built up for 73 RS replicas. They were beautiful. I would really be happy to have not only the motor but a 73 RS replica with one of those pieces of art for a motor in the back. So I am confident the market for these cars GT3s/GT3RSs will remain strong. I think the 996 GT3 market will give us a good indication what will happen. The 997
was a evolutionary step but either the Mk II or the 998 could be a revolutionary step. So I dont know
how that will affect our cars. Its going to be fun to watch.
