Default Questions about options for GT3

1) i dont really like the chrono option... dont like the way it looks on the dash and dont feel that i need it. however, i am wondering if the 'sport' button is worth it or not...

2) will Alcantara wear over time? for those that got their cars early, how is it holding up? what does the black leather or full leather option do for the car... worth it?

3) how do you think black wheels look on white car, for those that have seen it in-person

Any/all observations are appreciated...

Sport button is standard on GT3, with or without Chrono package, thus making Chrono an expensive stopwatch.

Full leather, which I have, provides a more attractive dash and door panels (and perhaps the rear quarter panels and other bits, but I'm not sure). The conventional wisdom is to not buy the leather if you are buying a track car. Otherwise, I wouldn't want a $100,000+ car without full leather. Even with full leather you get Alcantara inserts in seats.

Answers above all good. For question #3, I would say its very personal. On that note, I own a Denali, an Audi and a GT3RS---all are white with black wheels. Love the look!

1. chrono is of no use on this car.
2. i dont like leather, but it isn't my car.
3. black wheel is too constrasty on white cars, otherwise i like blk wheels. i think colored wheels are an expensive option $2k on the RS. for a bit more, you can get another set of wheels aftermarket in black.

Full leather was a must on 996-not so on the 997 in fact its better spent elsewhere- you get plenty of leather standard- doors- seats- headliner-use that money for carbon. On the GT3 is very taste fully done and I dont have it-my only mistake. I do think the alcantara is going to wear on the gear **** and steering wheel. On the gear **** first I would make SURE thats in carbon.
Jonathan I thought you were going to call? I would think about the white. Most cars have been ordered in white. If your thinking of resale at all order another color. When you go to sell "The Last GT3" and you mark it up as so- then the next to last in white is going to be more attractive at a lower price. If its a different color that will never enter the picture. Of course I am just guessing and thats my opinion. not worth very much.
The other thing is this going to be the "Last Mk I-GT3" ? People talk about the Mk II GT3. Then what do we do? Too bad your not Jerry Seinfeld.

Only get the full leather if you really really like Alcantara. Best is to take a look at some GT3s and decide for yourself.

I would also vote no on black wheels. But I'm not buying your car!

You're not really planning to order yet another white one are you? Any other color would be a refreshing change!

Agreed, I have full leather, lifts the cabin interior, steering wheel door patches/box, center consul box & seat centres still Alcantara which looks great sets it apart from other 997's, no problem with wear
Personally don't like black wheels, but that is just a taste thing, chrono a waste of cash!

Note......Stereo upgrade a MUST!

My car came with standard silver wheels. Repainted the wheels to black and loved it

Don't be afraid to order a white car. There are a lot of GT3s in white because A LOT of buyers love and want that color. White will be an assest on resale. This is what my dealer thinks.

great...

- no chrono package
- black wheels a bit much with white car
- must have upgraded stereo
- still a little on fence about full leather

by far, still most uncertain about the color... on one hand would like to do something distinctive (maybe match to sample), but i really do love the way the white looks... i do wonder if white with red or some other colored wheels might be the answer (?)

I think white with red wheels would look great! I'm also partial to the GT3 decal (obviously ); add that in red as well and it would be a very distinctive car.

To echo what others have said, you need to upgrade the stereo if you're ever planning to use the car for street driving. The stock stereo system is actually the worst I've heard in any car, and includes NO rear speakers. It definitely is worth an upgrade.

I also agree that black wheels on a white car don't work for me. I like them on most every other color, but for some reason they seem to lose something on white.

I've got the full leather and carbon package, and I have to admit I really like them (I didn't spec this car, someone else did, so it didn't come in exactly the way I would have ordered it). Having had it for awhile, though, if I were to order a new GT3, I'd probably include them.

Good luck!

I agree! To this day I don't know why I paid for the chrono. The only thing I have found it useful for is to time the construction stops on hwy-1! Plus, it's butt ugly! Also, imho, white cars with black wheels belong on Hondas.

It's definitely aftermarket, though it was handled directly by my dealer (Napleton Porsche in Westmont, IL). You can email Joe Buonsante (gbuonsante@napleton.com) for more information.
