Questions about options for GT3

i dont think that the SW that comes with the car is the thicker one with Alcantara...i think that there is a difference and i am considering the no cost option of thicker leather version...
i know that this is a very personal thing, but i just feel that heated seats, carbon fiber decorations, navigation, etc. take a little away from the character of the car as a 'street legal' race car. to me, coming from a 993, it is plenty plush to start with... but maybe, i need to get over it...
however, i will give all this feedback some thought, thanks!!!!

Jonathan,
The fire extinguisher will have everyone asking where you track your car (as it's a good thing to have for track work). If you don't track, then it's like a 'poser' item. Just my 2 cents.

And that's the problem with the full leather option, imo! I prefer leather to Alcantara on all skin contact surfaces (including the steering wheel).
Personal preference, obviously, but buyers need to be aware of what they're signing up for when they order "full leather".

Old guy is right that the new plastic dash is far better than the 996 & perfectly acceptable.
But I still think an £80k car should have leather when a £20k reps car does! It also adds extra Alcantara touches (door inserts, door & center consul cubby box, door handle facings) that you don't get with the standard package, stitching along the dash top, front center consul & doors, all in all lifts the interior quality, but it is expensive.

i do plan to take the car to some DEs, etc., but i am not nearly enough of a trank junkie to warrant a fire extinguisher...
I am pretty much down to choosing between white or guards red (order is in as white currently)... I am still also on the fence about whether to get full leather and whether to switch the steering wheel for the thicker leather no-cost option... really wish I had some experience with alcantara to know how it will wear...

there are a lot of white GT3 out there (not saying good/bad, just a fact), red is rare on GT3.
can't help you on full leather.
with alcantara... well, it WILL wear FASTER than leather steering wheel over time, but how long will it last, i dont know.

Fire extinguisher and thicker steering wheel
I would suggest getting the fire extinguisher anyway, if only to take it out and sell it to someone who wants it but can't get it through PCNA.
BUT, an extinguisher is nice to have even if you don't track the car and I'll tell you why... The GT3 is very low to the ground and if, [insert belief system reference here] forbid, you have to pull off the road far enough to rest on grass. the cats will start a brush fire.
I had this experience with my old BMW a couple of months ago at Watkins Glen. Thankfully, I did get around to removing the fire extinguisher after the fire system was installed. A few quick shots under the car at the flaming grass took care of the grass fire and avoided the potential for a much bigger problem, and the need to pull the big red handle.
The Porsche will probably not break down, but $140 and a safety option that doesn't get in the way don't seem like too much to invest.
Regarding the thicker steering wheel (XPA, if memory serves), mine is not particularly well crafted. I have driven cars with both, and I like the stock wheel better. I'll post some pictures of my car later tonight, so you can see what it looks like.

If i had to re-order, I'd do it all the same except I wouldn't get the adaptives and I'd switch out the wheel to the thicker leather wheel. The alcantera makes my hands sweaty, it doesn't seem to breathe. The leather is one of my favourite interior features, I love the stitching; oldguy is right though, full leather is not needed as the standard interior is great, however I really, really like the leather...
